His features are blurred, and the faces of the ones standing farther away are practically featureless. Not much depth of field, given the camera optics of the time. Taking this shot in bright sunlight limited the exposure time.

If you're referring to what appears to be a tennis ball attached to the right side of the dog-man's head, it's an artifact blended from the shadow of his upper right ear and a light-colored patch in the brick wall behind him.
