I bought a litre of pure lime juice, thinking that I could dilute it with carbonated water for a refreshing drink.

Well, I can, but it's going to last until Kingdom Come because the stuff is absurdly strong.

I can mix it as one part in ten and it still tastes admirably limey!

My dad used to drink PLJ,(Pure Lime Juice) with soda. Bloody lovely! Back in the very hot summer of 1990, I worked in a pub. The only free drinks were cordials with water or soda, so I had my share......

I love roasted vegetables, especially with pesto, and will make a big tray of them and gorge myself. Next day whatever is left is turned into soup.
Recently I've had roasted veg (just onions, courgettes and tomatoes - I know tomatoes aren't technically veg) on a bed of brown rice and pesto, very tasty and filling.

I actually bought some at Woolworths a couple of months ago. The server said he had had them in the freezer as noone wanted them .
I told him I definitely did and bought some.
I've looked every week since but they have never had any.
Actually thought I had found some in the freezer section last Sunday and grabbed some, but when I opened the bag at home they were just small prawns, had got distracted by the pink and orange picture on the front and mention of roe and missed the Australian PRAWNS in print at the top.

Every time you mention Woolworths I get thrown, even our beloved UK Woolies never sold scallops - at least I don't think they did - (I was usually too distracted by the pick 'n' mix and the 'Made in Hong Kong' quality toys).

We're using all the stuff that's been in our freezer for yonks (that's a 'long time' for the non-Brits here), so tonight was a Moroccan lamb stew (lamb chunks that have a few months to their name) with onions, lentils, carrots, courgette, pepper, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, stock etc. This was cooked for seven hours in the slow cooker and served with warm crusty rolls and Bogle Phantom Chardonnay, a stupendously rich Californian wine.

It was lovely.

Life, sometimes, is good.

Cadburys caramel buttons .. I had an open packet left next to my chair, I was happily munching them until I looked in the packet and there was loads of ants crawling over them .. extra protein I suppose, I've chucked the remains in our outside bin .. ffs

Years ago, I was idly breaking off pieces of a chocolate bar and munching on them with the lights dimmed, as I watched a movie on tv.

It was a tickle on my hand which caused me to interrupt my viewing. I won't say an army but a line of ants had found their way to the feast!

I think those were the days when a nest of them was established behind my fridge in the adjoining kitchen. It took me years to be properly rid of them. Meanwhile, I moved the telly upstairs!

I hope they have not got as far as nesting in your house! :oops:

Scallops: great texture.

I find the liquid antrid works really well and they carry it back to their nest.
In the meantime if you use household spray and wipe over where they walk it seems to disrupt them as it gets rid of their chemical trail.

Some people say chalk lines stop them but I haven't tried that.

Yup, Techy is eating like a KING as I slowly empty the freezers of packs of meat etc to cook for him.

We're going to try to work out where they're coming from today at some point, if you've just any techniques to suggest I'd be grateful James ..
My last house and the front and back gardens had nasty biting ants.
Anyone mithering at the front door would be maneuvred into position on the main nest so the ants would bite them.

When the ants came into the kitchen I tried all sorts of ways to dissuade them. Nothing worked until I got down on the floor and spoke firmly to them. No more ants.

I'll pop round on my bike with my bum out. That'll do the trick.
Tell them to be ready as I can't be messing about.
I'm not even going to warn them .. the impact of a Skarg 'bomb' will be more effective then ..

Were they already in the house or in the packet?
Ant Stop is recommended.
