What Did You Dream Of Last Night?

I dreamed my built-in wardrobe had been turned into a sauna and apparently you could sweat out your BO in advance, so you could go longer without taking a shower.

I woke up thinking I was still in the sauna, owing to my bed being nice and warm.

I quite often dream that I'm swimming in warm water, which I put down to the snuggly nature of my duvet.

Eating strong cheese just before bedtime can induce a similar sensation to fever dreams.
Stilton or Blacksticks Blue recommended for the trippiest of dreams!
This has never worked for me. I wonder if it's because any kind of physical disturbance can affect your sleep, make you wake more often and therefore more inclined to remember your dreams? You might just as well induce terrible indigestion or just drink a lot of water and have to keep getting up for the toilet.

My parents forbade the eating of cheese towards bedtime as we'd assuredly have nightmares, or 'cheese dreams'.

I had a long and involved dream last night of which only the last bit remains. I was back working in a school and it was approaching the end of term. I'd been doing something beforehand which I don't remember, but now students were coming into the building, which was big and new with a lake and lots of concrete walkways, more like a university than a school campus. The students were hot and sweaty, wearing white shirts that had seen better days. They'd been on something like a Duke of Edinburgh walk that had kept them away for several days. I went out to meet them and we were chatting. Behind me, on the top of a grassy slope stood my husband, who was wearing our baby son in a sling on his front. He was wearing a brown woollen jumper (my husband, not the baby) and was walking around killing time and waiting for me. I said to the group of students something about 'you think there are tears now, you just wait until next week when it's the end of term, EVERYONE cries!' There was some conversation about my having to do something, and I wondered how they hadn't noticed that I'd not even been here for months, having been on maternity leave, and I looked up towards my husband and son on the horizon.

In real life I haven't seen that ex husband for years and the 'baby' son is 36.

I retain a fragment of a dream where I visited a school or academy for 'gifted' people. Two small children in a seated position were weaving around the room at head height in an amazing display of levitation. Slight let-down when I realised they were just sitting on the shoulders of two beings who were invisible.

Last night I rode a horse to a wedding reception of someone I vaguely know. It was in a big, dark hotel, more like a hallway than a reception type room and I arrived at the head of other guests a bit like a king riding into battle. When I got there, there was a kind of drinking fountain in the room, with water coming out of a spout that looked like a hose pipe, and the horse stuck his head into it and had a good drink, My overriding memory is of not being able to get my feet into the stirrups properly.

Last night I dreamt I was running from a group of people, across a road and into undergrowth. I hid in a cave but then was attacked by a gorilla that was fleeing the same people. The gorilla had war paint on its face. I ran out of the cave and was running full pelt through thick shrubby forest, followed by the enraged gorilla. I had a spear but I knew that I was no match for the animal, and that if I got near other people they would kill it. There was an inhabited ravine nearby, and I knew that if I could just reach it I would be safe, but the gorilla was crashing through the undergrowth right behind me and I knew the ravine was too far and I wouldn't make it. In some way I knew it was just a story and willed myself to safety, which is when I woke up.

FEVER dreams.
I'm a tourist in Glasgow. Young people trying to fight me or rob me. I'm lost trying to get to the airport. There's a surge of folk with pints of Guinness. I follow the trail to a bar and pour a pint, but I find I can't pay as I've lost my jacket with my wallet, phone and passport. Freaking out, I surge to consciousness, and I'm drenched in sweat.

I often dream of a large ol house that I'm just moving into, or have only recently secured.

Last night I was showing my brother a large sunny room, huge windows, bare floorboards, and telling him it would be my new bedroom.

He disagreed as this would be a waste of the light. I should use it for art and sewing and Techy could mend his bikes in there.

Plenty of space for tools and machines.

Hmm, I thought, he's not wrong.

I was going blind last night. My vision was gradually degrading throughout the dream, sending me into a panic. No idea where I was, or what I was doing, but upon waking the anxiety remained for several minutes. Needed an extra coffee to get back to normal.

I'm wondering if the occult creatures stealing my glasses the other day is having a lingering effect...

a few nights ago I dreamed that I beat up an eminent Irish historian, Can't fathom why I'd do that, I know him from when I was secretary to an Archives Council he served on. We always got on well and he was friendly afterwards. He doesn't like U2 or propagandise in support of farmers afaiaa.

I was a drug dealer :dunno: and there was a black boy of about 13/14 who was quite bright. Somehow he was left with me and I was responsible for him. He ended up delivering drugs for me. I had not set him up to do so, but he somehow got involved. I was saddened because I knew that the money he was making would drag him into the drug world since it would be much more than he (as a teen) would ever make from a regular job. I knew that he would probably forfeit his ability to learn and do great things for the quick money in the drug trade. I was trying to figure out how to deter him from dealing drugs and to convince that he could go much further in life if he remained in school. My problem being that to convince him of this would be very difficult as I was in the drug trade, myself.

He ended up in a tree(?). which seemed to be below the floorboards of whatever building I was in, and he was awaiting a pick up. I heard a loud crash and realized that he'd fallen. I opened up the hatch below me to get to him. He was lying below, broken and bloody, but alive.

I called his mom because I felt that this might be the last time she saw him and was trying to figure out how I would explain the whole situation. His mom did show up.

I had someone call for ambulance and while I waited (which was interminably long time) I tried to keep him quiet and not moving. He was insistent on getting up, but I was worried that he might have a part of his body pierced by boards or that he might have a spinal injury. I was very saddened by the possibility that this accident would entirely ruin his life.

The dream faded into another short one of which I was again looming over some children from a great height. I can't remember anything else other than the thought I had in the dream that images of me being physically higher than the children (in both dreams) somehow lent me some authority over them.

My back was sore last night and I found it hard to go to sleep. Just as i dozed off I dreamt that someone came with a fuzzy rainbow coloured thick cord which was passed over me and the pain eased.
After a while it fell off onto the floor.
It seemed so real that in the morning I looked to see if there was anything on the floor but there wasn't.

I was looking after my small children in a house like our old one in Somerset. My husband, their father, was upstairs getting ready for work and he left shortly afterwards. I was busily tidying up when I looked into the bedroom (which seemed to be my husband's room alone, not shared with me) and saw that, although the bed was neatly made, there was a phone left in the middle of it. It had a black case with a tan coloured inside and the phone was sort of doubled back so you could see the inside of the case. It looked very new. I was standing in the doorway listening to the children playing and wondering whether I ought to drive the phone over to where my husband was working, in case he needed it. I contemplated the awkwardness of putting all the children in the car and decided not to bother. If he needed it he shouldn't have left it behind.

What a boring dream. I might as well have stayed awake.

Another weirdly boring, pointless dream. I was sitting at a picnic bench outside a zoo or similar attraction, with a couple who, I think, had a young child. We were pooling our money and trying to work out whether we had enough to go in, and had tipped several £10 notes out onto the table, which seemed unnaturally brightly coloured (the notes, not the table. They were not our normal £10 notes, but seemed quite exotic). I contributed two tenners and there was another one floating around in the breeze. The man, who was black, and I were counting they money and trying to do the maths - he was struggling and I realised that he might not have had the best education, so I took over and was doing mental maths. It was £19.75 each to go in so I was trying to calculate whether we had enough (despite the fact that there were THREE TEN POUND NOTES ON THE TABLE. There was an older lady standing just behind the table talking to her friends and telling them that she had a rare form of leukaemia. I glanced up at her, she looked very normal and well and was being very matter-of-fact about it, so I assumed she must be under treatment and maybe it was one of these things that you could live for years with, with treatment.

I didn't even get to go into the zoo - I woke up.

I had one of my periodic dreams about being in a 1980s newsagent. As usual, there was a big box of old comics and mags on the floor- "marked at half price"- and as usual it was packed with back issues of 2000AD, Eagle and a number of other titles I didn't recognise, but which were very interesting.

All the 2000ADs were from 1983 (in reality) but were printed on high quality paper, not the bogroll they really used, and again I thought- as usual- "these must be foreign editions, so I must get them".

This time, near the back was a wodge of unsold Twilight Zone Magazines, which all came with free posters. I created my little stack of comics and mags, as I always do in these dreams, and then promptly woke up without buying them.

I had several birds eggs kept in two ceramic bowls. I don't know where they came from, but initially they were duck or chicken eggs.

Just as I realized that they were probably dead because I had not done anything to keep them warm, I saw one starting to hatch. Shortly after, all of them hatched.

The fluffy chicks then escaped the bowls and I was trying to catch them, gently, to put them back. Then I lost count of the chicks and I had numerous ones I was trying to protect. They were now several different types ranging from a finch to chickens and others I couldn't identify because they were running everywhere.

Added into this problem, I had my two cats and an extra unknown one trying to catch the birds. No one got caught and I think I woke at that point.

I was watching birds at my feeders yesterday and one was a purple finch. That is the only connection I can think of.

Two equally boring yet very involved dreams last night with such random bits in that I wonder if they are trying to tell me something...

In the first I was on a (school?) trip somewhere and we were boarding the train ready to go home. It was a double decker train and I was sitting with my friends looking out over a row of dilapidated old houses, similar to the Crescent in Bath. Three or more storeys high, sandstone but very much in need of restoration. I said 'wouldn't those houses be lovely if they were done up?' Everyone looked and sort of grunted but nobody agreed with me. Then the train started to move and I broke out into singing 'The Wombles of Wimbledon.' People joined in (a la school trip) until we were all singing. Many petered out just after the first two lines, but I sang all the way through the first verse, about Uncle Bulgaria and 'Tobermoree-eeeeeee'. I woke up wondering how the hell I remembered all the words, because I had to grope to remember them once awake..

In the second I was again travelling with a large group of people, some I knew and some I didn't. We were all heading towards some point, where I think we were going to settle and live, like a commune. We were breaking our journey and having a meal, sitting out in a large park on a hill, where we'd erected a huge trestle table with food on and were sitting and talking. I had a baby with me, in a highchair but someone had put a cushion in for him to sit on, which meant he was tilted at an awkward angle and couldn't eat. I pulled the cushion out so he could be comfortable, but I was slightly worried that this might upset whoever put it in, whom I suspected of being an older lady that I didn't want to upset. At which point the baby stood up, grabbed a piece of broccoli from the centre of the table and a knife and announced that he was going to turn it into firelighters. I was quietly proud of his resourcefulness. In the meantime behind me two girls played on a big slide set into the side of the hill and someone was talking about one of the young girls, saying that with the awful background and upbringing she'd had it was a surprise that she'd turned out as well as she had.

I can probably, with a bit of groping, come up with reasons behind everything in these dreams except for the Womble song and the inexplicably precocious baby firestarter.

I need to stop watching True Crime.

Last night I dreamed of a man who was a murderer because of a pair of gloves he put on. They caused him to start killing and the only solution was to cut his hands off.

The other dream was very involved and detailed. I was on a train and someone told me that we had to travel through the most dreadful landscape, and that they wouldn't be looking out of the windows. We went through something that looked like a refugee camp mixed with a murder scene, so I turned to look out of the opposite window, where there were piles of heads and bodies all stacked up like a scrap car site. We were on our way to arrest a murderer, who turned out to be a young child. Everyone refused to get in the van with him because there were 'bits of skin in there'.

No cheese involved at all in these dreams.

i was in a flat somewhere, staying with a friend of a friend. I have the feeling I was in a slightly illicit relationship with the person I was there with, there had been a long and involved part before where we'd been sleeping outside in a tent, wrapped in duvets and a bunch of people came along and were trying to set fire to the tent, so we'd gone to this flat which belonged to someone he knew. There were loads of people there, mostly kids from quite young up to late teens and we were deciding to go to out for the day and trying to think where to go. We were in a city, but nobody had much money so we decided to go to the park, One person said, about the particular park we were thinking of, "I don't think I want any kid of mine going on those swings!" so I deduced that it was all lots of large equipment and very hi tech. The kids were all excited about going there, it was a new, huge play park apparently.

Next thing I remember I was sitting on a park bench with several others when a very old friend of mine came by. She was wearing a very small baby in a sling on her front. I stopped her and we greeted one another and I said "who's this then?" to the baby, which was asleep, very very tiny and more like a doll. It had very 'carved' and pale features and a lot of blonde hair and I felt slightly guilty that I hadn't noticed that my friend (who I see irregularly but fairly frequently irl) was pregnant. She began a long and involved story, into which some of the other people were chiming, about someone called 'Charlie' and how 'they met and fell in love' and I was getting increasingly confused (as I often do in waking life if lots of people are talking and I can't quite hear what everyone is saying). I only know one "Charlie" and she's a woman and I was half wondering if her relationship had split up and what a shame for her children - was this Charlie's baby or was it my friend's baby who was called Charlie?

I never got to the bottom of it before I woke up.

I dreamt of first contact with extraterrestrials last night, although it was really more fairy folklore/Lovecraftian in nature. The aliens were somewhat hostile at first, hunting down humans, but things settled down after a while when a treaty was negotiated. At first the aliens were difficult to spot. They were formed from exotic matter so could only be seen as a metallic blue taste. After a while they were perceivable as a vague blur.

@catseye, your last few dreams have had babies/young children in them. Any thoughts on that? Are you working on any new projects or ideas?

Nothing that I'm not normally working on. I wonder if the babies and children reflect my own children somehow. I'm also dreaming about parks or recreation grounds a lot too, and I've no idea why!

And last night I was back to David Tennant again. It was a long and involved dream which involved him being rather irritable with me but I lost the finer details on waking. I woke up thinking 'not David Tennant AGAIN!'

I would love to know why a rather narky DT is haunting my dreams.

l’ve just emailed my mate DT. Oddly, he told me, “I’ve been having a weird recurring dream about an authoress with short hair who works in a supermarket. She keeps making googoo eyes at me, and trying to lure me into her upstairs understairs cupboard for some unspecified but disturbing activities. l won’t go, obviously, because she’s Northern.”

Spooky, eh?

Well I avoided DT last night. I was staying in a hotel and needed to go back to the room for a packet of crisps. I walked past a swimming pool, where several people were sitting around the edge and decided I'd go for a swim later, and back to the hotel room, which had an interconnecting door with the next room. In the next room my Mum was asleep. I needed to go into that room to get the crisps, but I knew I mustn't wake her (for some reason the crisps were forbidden), but I'd done this before. As long as she was asleep and I could creep in and get the crisps from the back of the drawer, I'd be fine. The connecting door was locked and closed. I needed a key and noticed that there was a key in the door to my room, so I slid this out without making a noise, turned around - and the connecting door was now open and ajar...

And then I woke up.

I was in a hospital. Not sure what my role was, but there was a nurse and a young 20 something woman. The woman had some, unknown to me, health issue.

The nurse spoke of something that I had identified as a surgical procedure that would greatly improve the woman's health.

Then the woman was on a surgical table with me standing beside her to assist with the surgery and to make sure she didn't fall off of the table because she had been sedated.

Nothing occurred but suddenly the operation was done and the nurse was quite pleased with the outcome. The woman woke and was grateful for what I had done for her. :dunno:
I was hoping someone would explain what it was that I had done. The nurse was talking to me, but I couldn't hear anything.

I then was walking around the hospital. I think to get some food. I walked into the gift shop and saw some pencil cases for sale. I saw one that had the Peanuts characters (Charlie Brown, Snoopy) on it. I was looking at it to see if I could find the price because one of my sil, irl, likes Peanuts and I could get it for her for Christmas.

Then my alarm woke me.
