What Did You Dream Of Last Night?

I was writing the second verse to a well known poem and thought that I was doing a good job.
Sadly as soon as I woke it skittered away and I can remember nothing of what it was.

I have had several of these creative dreams, where I am dreaming of a poem and upon waking the words escape me.

Sometimes though, I have managed to retain some of it, my best success was around the time I was ten years old or so; Upon waking from a dream of a poem I wrote it down verbatim, perhaps 4 or 5 verses.

But being around ten years old it wasn't brilliant but it did cross from the dreaming world to the waking world intact, which is priceless.

Interestingly, the poem was about aliens landing and taking two children on a whistle stop tour of the universe whilst feeding them ice-cream.

T'other night I dreamed I saw Concorde flying over, quite low.

I turned to whoever I was with and said 'That's Concorde! It can't be though because they've all been grounded. Heh, maybe it's a GHOST Concorde!'

The next day I was at the Weird Weekend and heard an interesting talk which mentioned someone who reckoned he'd seen, yup, a ghostly Concorde.

The circumstances seemed exactly the same as my dream. Their vision or whatever came first though.

I was in the middle of serving lunch to my extended family when there was someone banging on the door. Thinking someone was in trouble I went to see what the problem was, but it turned out to be this couple who were trying to sell me time shares - and every time I said no, the man kept on talking. Part way through the sales pitch, the woman runs down to the back of the house, looking for a way in, so she can rob the place while I am distracted. I call out to my family to stop her before she gets inside, which they do, and the man keeps trying to convince me to buy into his time shares, and in desperation, holds up a VHS tape and says "I"ve got sport we could watch!", which I thought was probably just sports news he'd taped off tv.

I had a really weird one last night, someone was showing me tiny shrivelled up brown foetus type things that looked like old men lying on their side (they looked a bit like Jeremy Corbyn), a larger one in the middle a smaller one on either side. They were about the size and colour of dogfish egg sacks.

Random stuff would happen in the dream but I kept returning to a settee where I'd be shown these things over and over. At one point, we decided they'd been switched with copies, the genuine ones returned later in the dream to a feeling of great relief and reverence. The dream ended with someone from my past making an appearance but he was now really messed up on drugs and was trying to rob me so I was escaping from him until I woke up. What's that all about then?.

I've been trying CBD oil for a couple of weeks now, chiefly to see how effective it is in alleviating chronic knee pain, but also to combat insomnia (you may have noticed me posting comments in the middle of the night).
Many users report that it makes REM sleep kick in sooner and last longer. The outcome of this is more vivid, memorable and semi-lucid dreams.
Last night's was one of those where I knew I was dreaming, but I couldn't break out of it and it was initially unsettling without being a full-on nightmare.
I was in the front car of an impossibly tall roller-coaster. It started its slow, clanking ascent up the first long climb and I felt myself tilted up and facing the sky. The car I was in and the structure of the roller-coaster was rusty, rickety and dangerously decrepit. I wanted to get off, but couldn't. As I passed the top of the incline, I entered an uncomfortably restricted, cage-like tunnel that pressed in on me and I was afraid I would get stuck. The sensation of claustrophobia was utterly palpable and I could feel rust and splinters scraping me. Somehow though, I managed to squeeze through and then the car was no longer on any kind of track, but was rushing across some beautiful grasslands, with gently rolling hills and an iridescent, mother-of-pearl sky.
That's about it. I have no idea where it came from - I haven't ridden a roller-coaster for years.
Anyone else had weird dreams after taking CBD oil?

Odd dream last night
I had left the village to gather some wild food to add to the meal in the forest near the river.
Suddenly I was grabbed by the hair by a man who was with a group of others and dragged back to a boat which had landed nearby but which I hadn't noticed.
I had heard of these marauders and was really afraid and wondered what would happen if they started drinking some of the wine they had stolen from somewhere.
Anyway after pushing and shoving me I was told I was to cook their meal for them using food they had also taken.
Cooking did not worry me as I knew how to make a tasty meal but I decided to eat some poisonous mushrooms rather than stay in their clutches.
So I made the meal- a sort of stew with herbs to make it tasty and prepared a separate one for myself with the poisonous mushrooms.
My chief tormentor came and made me taste their meal to make sure it was good then noticed the meal I had prepared for myself full of mushrooms. He accused me of not using the best stuff in their meal and threw it into theirs.
They soon began drinking and eating the food, taking their eyes off me so that I slowly moved back into the forest where I was grabbed by some of the men from the village who had come looking for me and who were armed with spears and knives.
At that moment the men on the boat began to be violently ill and some fell down and did not move.
That's when I woke up.

Just a slight recollection of an odd one. l was on a path running along a steep slope through a wood - think Forest of Dean - with some other men. Their clothing was vaguely mediaeval. We seemed to be responding to a call for help from some of our comrades farther ahead.

There was a right-then-left dogleg in the path, but about 100 yards ahead l could see the men we were joining. They had long sticks like Cromwellian pikes with which they were prodding a bizarre creature that was bobbing out from between two trees. lt resembled a T. Rex, but was of a bright robin’s breast/terracotta red. It didn’t seem particularly threatening, though its massive size was intimidating. l distinctly recall its movement: like a metronome, forward and backward...

...I woke up.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to put the poisonous mushrooms in their meal to start with? It all ended well for you anyway, so you were lucky.

Well I did say it was an odd dream but I was so afraid of what would happen to me that I had chosen death rather than face it as I didn't think I could possibly get away.

I had a dream where I was discussing films with the guy who does the I Only Watch 18s website. I have never contacted him IRL, nor do I know what he looks like, or even his name. I haven't even thought of his website in at least a couple of years. So naturally this morning I go to the site, and it's still up, but he hasn't refreshed it in three years. He has a Twitter sidebar, but rarely posts. I don't THINK he's dead...

Dreamed I'd lost the little finger of my left hand at the first joint. Wasn't sure how, it just seemed that I'd torn it off on something without noticing. I started experimenting, pulling at the edge of the duvet, then trying to pick things to see how much it was affecting my ability to grip. Woke up and for a couple of minutes was still under the impression that it was missing...

Was going to post this last night but I was too tired after being dragged along the Wirral by Techy.

Anyway... on the train home yesterday we sat near a woman who was talking on her phone (in the Quiet Carriage, egad!) about someone she must have been visiting in hospital. They'd had their finger re-attached and were doing well.

I'd've LOVED to ask her all about it! but she had a toddler with her and was busy with him so I didn't.

Dreamt again last night- I think because the woman with the noisy yellow ute hasn't been coming home in the early hours much.
Anyway I was in the lounge room with my daughter and I could hear people outside, then a middleaged couple I didn't know came in( on waking I thought they looked a bit like the younger version of the people who lived next to my parents when I was a child).
We engaged in a bit of chat then I suddenly said that I had to hang out the washing.
It seemed to be taking ages and a man who radiated kindness appeared and helped me hang out the rest.

Was going into a new lift with new technology, down to a stadium on a lower level.
Two people and I entered but after it went down it wouldn't open and the lights went out.
Luckily mobile phones worked and we were eventually let out.

l was sharing a room in a barracks-type building with other uniformed (police?) personnel. lt was bright, modern and airy; we’d obviously been living there for a while as our kit and personal belongings were spread about in some disarray.

lt appears that l’d missed a meeting or a memo, because everybody was tidying up very industriously, all of them wearing their uniforms. l started to try to do the same, but my every attempt was corrected by one of my colleagues: “No, the A4 files go into these plastic cases; personal stuff goes into the drawers labelled...”

l then realised that l couldn’t find my favourite penknife (in the dream a Buck 110; in real life, not so much) in all the clutter that was being rearranged. Panic!

I woke up.

My dream last night was an hours-long mental discussion on whether Ralph Breaks the Internet should actually be called Ralph Wrecks the Internet. No wonder I felt exhausted when I woke up.

Thanks for that. Now I cannot sleep.

IRL I have a few days off work in which I'd resolved to sort out my clutter problem.

Last night I dreamed that a colleague called Ade had decided to move in with me and had begun re-organising my house.
I was a little surprised but thought, well, he's good at that sort of thing! and left him to it.

I often dream that my back garden extends about 50 miles and leads to a beach complete with sand dunes, which it did last night.
So as Ade was sorting my house and hugely-long garden out I regretfully broke the news to Techy that he'd been summarily replaced.

Later I realised that Ade was actually not in love with me and was just an interfering meddler so I sacked him off and invited Techy back.

This is actually about how my plans are coming to naught.

I'd just love the chance to try the stuff! I do hope it helps you.

Well my dream last night was simply this:

I was at work (although it seemed like it was supposed to be my current place of employment, the building actually resembled a place I used to work at over 10 years ago).

Paul Humphreys from OMD arrived (I think I'd invited him there, or summat) and I was interested to note that he'd dyed his hair black, although later when he pushed it back (it seemed quite long, like it was circa 1987) it was whiteish grey underneath. Anyway he'd brought his dog, and it played with ZebraPup for a while and then peed on the floor.

And... that's about it.

What the heck all that was about, I have no idea..

EDIT to add: I remember specifically not mentioning to Paul that I'd noticed his hair was grey underneath. I think I didn't want to embarrass him by letting other people find out, or summat. Like it was a little secret between us.

Tetchy cannot be replaced by anyone, no matter how good their organisational skills are!

"Eyes I dare not meet in dreams."

Hello GNC! One large tabby at your service... :cool2:

Oh, er, hello. *looks nervous*

Anyway, I woke up in the middle of the night last night to find someone was questioning me (in my dream) about American towns and cities. "Where are the US gold reserves? Where is the floating casino?" etc. All seemed to be money related. No idea what that was about, and I'm no expert.

Last night I dreamt I was in a supermarket in a foreign country I've never been to irl, like Latvia or Lithuania. Somewhere European but decidedly foreign. There was all these stacks of not wrapped fruit and veg for sale like you see in pictures of third world markets or something, and very different from how uk supermarkets are, and they were all veggies I'd never seen before.
Thing that looked like brown radishes called grubnuts and pink ginger that wasn't actually ginger.
Then I started to panic cos I'm a super fussy eater and I realised my hosts were going to feed me this stuff.

I love the Wirral! We were there t'other weekend.. :joyf:

We cycle up there now and then. Being flat like much of the rest of Cheshire (as it once was) the views are, as you'll know, wide-reaching and spectacular. We've also visited the St John Tower in Liverpool which gives wonderful views of the landmarks you can see from the Wirral. Highly recommended.

I have a book somewhere about the deforestation of the Wirral, which apparently used to be covered in dense woodland.

another strange one the other night
i was walking the dog along 'the canal' (nowhere i've ever been?) and we had to walk through this fella's house as the canal meandered through it (??) anyway the guy seemed happy enough with our intrusion and proceeded to guide us where to go. only problem was that the dog ran up some stairs, and as i chased him - shouting him back - with the bloke following me shouting "you can't go up there" , we entered the guys living room.
in there was a table (coffee table type) with his dinner plate on it, off which the dog stole a roast potato and ran off back down the stairs!
so back down stairs i was offering my apologies for the dogs behaviour, when a door opened and there stood an old work colleague who i have not seen or heard of for maybe 5 years or so. he was just stood there and as i said "oh hiya Glen", the dream kind of ended.
i must admit that this dream has worried me somewhat, because Glen must be in his mid to late 70's now and i have no way of contacting him to see if he's OK (i have no phone number now etc) i have NEVER dreamed of him before - so why now?? i just hope he's good as he's a lovely bloke. and no. no drink was involved again. lol

Ooh you are so lucky living so close to the Wirral! We need a several-hour drive to get to it! :)

Wow I didn't know that about the forests, how interesting. Do you know what the book is called? I bet it would be a good read.

What a bizarrely odd and detailed dream. Funny how things like canals meandering through houses don't seem odd at all whilst you're having the dream, isn't it?

As for Glen... some would say it is significant that you dreamt of him but I don't know.. t'other day while at work I suddenly had a brief but clear flash of memory of a place we used to live many years ago. We weren't talking about the place, or about anything to do with it; just going about our normal working day. This happens a lot (as I'm sure it does to other people?) and I'm wondering whether you dreaming randomly of Glen is the same sort of thing... if that makes sense? Just your brain firing up random memories for no apparent reason?

Then again perhaps there is some reasoning behind it, which we aren't aware of...

Reading too much about sea/lake monsters I must have been...

Last nights dream included me, my wife plus a few others standing along side what seemed to be a moat, as a tall stone wall was on the opposite side of where we stood. As we looked down into the moat a creature, somewhat shark like but with legs leisurely swam past in a slightly undulating motion. My thought was, that's very similar to the Creature from the Black Lagoon, though it actually looked nothing like it.

Was travelling with my daughter and we were inspecting some type of open plan school room.
I was chatting with some of the children when the mother of some of them insisted that I was meant to have one of her little girls and wouldn't take no for an answer, then she took her other children and left.
As we were supposed to be catching a plane back home later we didn't know what we were going to do because we didn't have a passport or ticket for the little girl.
I have no idea why I would even contemplate taking a strange child home.
