Analogue Boy,

But for £2.88 per week it isn't bad.

I spend more than that per week on espresso.

Because that's what I was doing five minutes ago...
Some of us struggle with dyslexia or the proper use of grammar. Honestly, one minute a sentence is there in front of your eyes and the next it's gone - all mixed up. It used to piss me off when Rynner would point out my spelling mistakes. I can't help it.

I was (and am currently) pondering on previous posts and wondering how much of a sieve or barrier to organisms going up the weehole a pair of swimming trunks might be, and how to construct a sentence that indicates same.
The problem here isn't necessarily with swimming, it's the other things men do around the water.

There's a certain male obsession with urinating into water. Many men like to stand on the bank of a river, canal, lake or whatever and pee into it. There are obvious dangers associated with this practice, especially when the man is drunk or otherwise unsteady.

Other more imaginary hazards include the ability of certain mythical tiny fish and parasites to swim up the stream of urine into the penis and lodge themselves in the urinary tract. We may have already discussed these creatures.

On the whole, I'd feel more worried about the danger of falling in and drowning than of a fish scaling the steam of urine but then I'm not a bloke so it's mainly incomprehensible to me.

That's fewer troublemakers, not less...
"Fewer" and "Less than" are actually interchangeable, it's a weird, snobbish myth that took off about ten years ago that started to demand "Fewer" was correct. It really doesn't matter, since they both mean the same thing. Now, if this was about apostrophes, well...

Not really, it is context dependent.

I can say 'there is less beer in that glass', but not 'there are fewer beer in that glass'...

Under the floorboards...
"Less THAN", not just "less".
Less is when there is a certain amount to begin with, and some is taken away. Fewer is when a set amount is established and you have an amount that is under that...

Five minutes ago (just to get the thread back to topic) I was trying to make sense of the plans the local council sent out with a notification that next door was to be demolished and replaced with a duplex building (two seperate dwellings within the same building) - I was trying to figure out where their windows would be in relation to the windows on my house (and if I should shut the blinds!)

Saying goodbye to my kids and contemplating whether to drink alone at home or go out and socialise. It's a hot day. Think I'll go for a swim at the beach instead.

The candiru fish is a known species. The bit about swimming up a urine stream, entering a human via the urethra, and embedding itself is the mythical (or at least not yet proven) aspect.

It seems I stated a thread on this some years ago! Perhaps these posts cold be moved there?

My first post in that thread reads like something halfway into a conversation so I bet that thread was taken from elsewhere.

(The bloke with the meat on his head had found his scalp infested with a parasite for which the treatment was to lure it out alive.)

Five minutes ago I was doing something I really love, which is peeling and slicing vegetables for my meals over the next few days.

For some reason I particularly enjoy processing carrots, parsnips and onions. They are cut into small chunks and then chopped again for good measure.
