I've started reviewing ITV's Hub of these programmes: eg, http://www.itv.com/hub/wycliffe/WFEa95a002

I watched most of them when they first broadcast live in the 90s, but I wasn't very impressed.

But now I remember I was watching on a small B&W mobile TV at the time. The pictures on ITV hub are in colour, and far more detailed. I find I can recognise more places in them now, which helps to improve the quality of the drama.

It's sort of pre (or post) Poldark Cornwall, with atmospheric views and haunting music... Enjoy!

There's a Wicker Man-type episode.

Always liked Wycliffe, it seemed a bit less silly or cliched than most. Very good main cast didn't hurt.

I liked Wycliffe as well but I reckon a DetSup would spend more time in the office. The DCS would ask him what his DIs were doing.

Tonight I watched http://www.itv.com/hub/wycliffe/WFEa95a003

A man's body is recovered from the sea, but too badly disfigured (by crabs, etc) to be recognisable.

But later the recognition issue is resolved by whether the deceased had had a vasectomy or not.
But surely the crabs, etc, would have destroyed any soft tissue evidence?

Any expert opinion on this?

Just watched this one:

This ticked all my boxes - a fisherman from Hayle is killed when his boat explodes, near Godrevy lighthouse. A lifeboat (presumably from St Ives) and a Seaking helicopter from Culdrose were tasked to search for bodies.

Hayle has changed a lot since this programme was made, and of course Culdrose no longer has SAR Seakings.

At the end of the programme, a man goes over a cliff in a car, and the Coastguard cliff rescue team get involved...

10/10 for drama!
