Some of you may have seen in the news that the rapper* XXXtentacion was recently fatally shot by assailants unknown. He was aged 20.

Rumours are always percolating on twitter that the death as reported was faked (for whatever reason). Here's someone having trouble matching the images of the dead rapper's face with his known facial tattoos.

It seems apparent to me that this is to do with the lighting and the low resolution of the images. However, I'm interested in how quick people are to form or believe rumours that a celebrity is not really dead (Tupac, Andy Kaufman, Elvis)

Another factor is that XXXtentacion had major feuds with other rappers, including Drake. One conspiracy theory alleges that Drake 'predicted' his death in song lyrics, but it seems like a stretch. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/fans-very-bizarre-theory-drake-12741231

* I haven't heard his stuff. Sounds like he was a real scumbag, who perpetrated extreme physical abuse against his ex-girlfriend. I don't think that this factor is that relevant to the discussion, though.

His fans are revolting.

Fans of XXXTentacion have gathered in Florida to pay tribute to the rapper, who was shot dead on Monday.

Hundreds of mourners laid candles, flowers and teddy bears at the site of his murder, and raised their arms in an "x" symbol at the makeshift memorial.

According to the Los Angeles Times, between 300 and 500 people gathered at Melrose Avenue, blocking traffic.

Police eventually became involved and dispersed the mourners shortly before 9pm local time.

By that point the event had become rowdy, with fans riding on top of moving cars, forming impromptu mosh pits and jumping off buildings.

Mourners also joined in a chorus of the rapper's song Al.one: "Please, I don't wanna be alone. I don't wanna be alone".

A few Hip Hop conspiracies exist, amongst them:

The unsolved murder of Producer Paul C McKasty in 1989.

The murders of Stretch, Tupac, Biggie Smalls and Yaki Kadafi from 1995 - 1997, and how they might be linked?

The shooting of Jam Master Jay in 2002, and how a disgruntled fellow musician wanted revenge for a deal gone wrong, or was it robbery, or a hit by drug dealer Kenneth McGriff?

Plus a year ago Prodigy of Mobb Deep died after choking on an egg, which was seen by some as a ridiculous reason, and perhaps his recent album about "The Illuminati" was reason for them have had him assassinated?
