It's clearly a blatant attempt to discredit this version of events by depicting it in an absurd manner. We must remain alert (though not alarmed) and continue to question why it is that red socks turn the other clothes pink.

Pink is a synonym for Communist. One sock turns all adjacent clothing Communist. My Fort, they were right. It's the domino effect all over again...
 
The red socks were set up by MI6/the CIA/the Mafia/the Masons/the Illuminati.

The underpants were covertly pink to start with.

What would happen if you put a red sock in the washing machine with a turquoise shell suit? My guess is the suit would come out a sort of reddish green - in other words LIZARD colour !!!
