I Can See This Going Wrong

Yes, you are right.

They were introduced to munch the cane beetle in the sugar cane fields.

2'400 released in 1935.

in 2019 there were aaround 200 million.

Turned out nice again :)

Wasn't the ploy to destroy something else with a non-native invasive species how the Cane Toad got into Australia?
Or was it another of my cheese dreams?

The nice carpet lady in the video says the wasps are native. To the UK I presume.

They're very small. Difficult to see with the naked eye.

I'm not sure if they are native to the UK. I think they're kind of native everywhere...

Fact is, after they've munched all the moth's eggs, then they die.

2,400 appears to be a common number for these things then.

This is assuming the microscopic parasitic wasps are kept a careful eye on and dont escape the non hermetically sealed country pile lol

On paper the wasps look good but lots of things do, the only thing I can see in
the plot is they do the same to butterfly eggs maybe it's one reason they are
in decline.

These guys didn't invent biological pest control mate. It's been used for thousands of years. Scientifcally refined for about a hundred.
