Collapsing Terrain: Landslides / Landslips / Rockfalls / Etc.

goosebumps!

I think I'd not have been standing close to the edge anyway, filming or not, but once it started to move... Is the closeness actually illusory?
I think the filmer was a person just standing on the road. If you look past the collapsed part, you can see two persons and the backs of two cars. The angle suggests that the camera was about 5 feet off the ground.

Video of cliff collapse on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast

The fall, on 18 January, was captured by a camera placed on a pier to monitor the beach by the Environment Agency.

2 empty suburban Utah homes collapse down hill; nobody hurt

"The collapses were documented in videos taken by police officers and firefighters, who went to the scene after sections of a retaining wall holding back soil fell apart and the homes began making noises."
I read several news reports on this. It seems the development company didn't do their due diligence on characterizing the geology and accounting for the soil plasticity. And, the municipality allowed the exception on the steep slope to get out of a sticky land use situation. This type of nonsense happens all over the US. And buyers are absolutely clueless when purchasing.

Cliff collapse in Dorset

Aerial footage captured by a drone has revealed the extent of a massive landslip on Dorset's Jurassic Coast.

The collapse happened overnight last Thursday at Seatown Beach, near West Bay, along the same section of coastline as another landslip in 2021.

Warnings have been issued after visitors were seen walking near the edge of the cliff.

'Lucky escape' as Dorset cliff fall nearly ends in disaster

Frightening footage captured the moment a number of people narrowly avoided a rock fall at a Dorset beach. Part of the cliff at West Bay, near Bridport, remains cordoned off following the collapse on August 8.

The footage shared by Dorset Council shows the rock fall with a number of people on East Beach at the time.

A number of "Golden Rules" are in place to keep people safe on the Jurassic Coast. They include staying away from the edge of the cliff top, staying away from the base of cliffs, paying attention to warning signs, checking tide times and keeping dogs on leads near the cliff edge.

The continuing rainfall has caused another slippage in nearby Folkestone.

Pictures show the aftermath of a huge landslide under a clifftop house – the second to have occurred on the same road in less than a month.
The Road of Remembrance in Folkestone has been closed since January 27 after the first landslide.
But now what appears to have been an even bigger one this afternoon has once again sent trees and debris tumbling down.
The road is blocked by huge mounds of earth and plants.

At least the trees are still upright!

Folkestone continues to fall apart. Now it's a road and a railway line.

A huge crack has appeared in a road next to the railway line at the Folkestone Warren.
The whole width of the road, which is next to the railway line to Dover, appears to have split.
One driver said she had a scare when her car "bounced down" over the steep drop.
Network Rail had already implemented a 20mph (32kmh) speed limit in the area after an earlier movement of the promenade.
A spokesman for Network Rail said it was "aware of uneven surfaces" at the Folkestone Warren promenade and it had sensors installed to monitor the situation.

And it doesn't look like it's going to stay navigable for very long on the lane that's still 'wholesome' either! (i.e. emphasis on the word "hole-some!")
