Woke up early this morning and listened to a report on BBC Radio's "Naked Scientist" programme of an astonishing new technology being developed at the University of Sussex
Just Googled it and, whilst the science is still very much in its infancy and currently generates just simple coloured shapes within a device that looks a bit like a microwave oven without a door, the fact that you can not only see and hear images, but put your hand in and touch them is quite mind-blowing.
The underlying concept uses ultrasound waves to manipulate tiny polystyrene beads.
The Star Trek Holodeck has just come a tiny bit closer!
