'Bus Bandit' Hits Two DeKalb Banks

A serial bank robber dubbed the “Bus Bandit” because he uses mass transit to make his getaway struck two banks in DeKalb County Wednesday.
The two banks were within walking distance of each other with a bus stop in-between. The suspect has now either robbed or attempted to rob 15 banks since mid-February.
His latest robbery was at the Suntrust Bank off of North Druid Hills. He was reportedly wearing an Anaheim Angels baseball cap that shielded part of his face. He has been known to change clothes quickly after his alleged robberies.
The suspect tried to rob the Bank of America across the street ten minutes. He for some reason felt alarmed after handing the teller a note and ran out of the bank before taking any money.
Investigators said they believe he jumped on a MARTA bus after the robbery.
A bus driver told them he remembered picking up the suspect at the bust stop near the banks and dropping him off at Lennox Station.
Agent Joe Parris of the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Atlanta said the suspect remains elusive because he does not bring attention to himself.
“He's in, he's out. He calls not attention to himself inside the bank, he's very quiet, he only goes to one teller, and he's out the door before anyone but the victim teller realizes a robbery’s taken place,” he said.
Although the suspect’s picture has been widely displayed, no one has come forward to identify him.
Officials said they consider it highly likely that the suspect will strike again if he is not caught.
