Just saw the great NOVA documaentary about excavations to try and find the remains of the Lighthouse at Alexandria, where they discovered evidence about what it was like and where the remains of the building now lie. They wound up pulling up some statuary (sphixes), and it was more Egyptian than I would have thought (Greek, Rome, and Eygpt all influenced the area in the time the Lighthouse was built).
But it made me wonder, what would similar underwater archaeology yield for the other 6 missing Wonders of the Ancient World? Could they find where the Colosses fell, or it's base? What about the hanging gardens? Has any work been done in these areas?
