Forgive my lack of knowledge about matters of organised religion.
Having just watched Coronation Street this evening I was wondering about the strongly religious charecter Emily, who for those of you who dont know has recently met her husbands killer and feels unable to forgive him.
She said somthing along the lines of that while the killer can enter heaven as he has paid his dues and repented, she could not as she was unable to forgive his sin.
I was wondering, is that an accepted truth in some religions, or is it somthing which is simply down to interpretation? Does the church have a hard line on this? I know this is TV but I have heard similar things said in real life, if this has some truth to it then it seems to be sending out an awful message to believers who have been greatly wronged in life.
