Maybe it's just a need for ritual, no matter how hollow it might be.
That's actually superstition! :bish:

That would be an ecumenical matter! That's actually superstition! :bish:
puts me in mind of current fad for self obsession fuelled by social mediaSo Satanism might be an ideal religion for our times as you needn't believe in anything other than your own needs and ego

"My religion is just Ayn Rand's philosophy with ceremony and ritual added." - Anton LaVeyIt's a bit like objectivism really. Assholery.
If anything shows that it is all a power game, that is it
This seems to have wandered a long way from Ringo's original feeling of missing out on a 'togetherness' as is found in religious belief.

So that's where Mother's cheery little helper went.Console yourself with the thought that yes, that is it.
Feel better now?

What I learned was that Satanism is not based on worshipping Satan or any other deity or spiritual being.
[...]
LaVey called it 'Satanism' to deter hippies and New Agers.
To put it simply, it's actually about putting oneself first and not being taken advantage of by needy people.[...]
So Satanism might be an ideal religion for our times as you needn't believe in anything other than your own needs and ego and certainly don't have to bow down and worship anyone.
I fell personally that I am missing the "togetherness" as felt by people of faith. My only problem is that faith in a higher power/deity/creator goes against everything I think I am.
Ringo,
You are not alone.
I feel an inability to 'connect' with people on a deep level.
I have no problem superficially. And it doesn't effect my ability to function at all.
But there is always that nagging feeling in the background that something is 'missing'.
Thus it was, and always will be (probably).
INT21.
LOL INT21- you beat me to it by seconds. I can't pronounce it. How do you say Cthulhu out loud? The Cult of Cthulhu is currently recruiting for members, I've heard.
Sounds familiar. I might just join a cult or something and be done with it. Anybody wanna start a cult? I'm not sure what we stand for yet but as long as there is tea and the chance of a nice sit down then I'm in.
Kuh-tool-oo.
Start here: http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com/ and if you join us I guess I'll be seeing you sometime soon....
Cthulhu blesses you.Sound slike a sneeze.
To be fair, LaVeyan Satanism is (as I understand it) about putting oneself first but doesn't have to be about callously ignoring other people.
I didn't say it was about that.
