Gift Subscriptions outside the UK

I'd love to buy a gift subscription for my brother, but unfortunately they are only available to send to people in the UK. Is there a reason for this? Would anyone else like to send one to someone in the rest of the world?

Seems like sound business sense if the giver is OK with paying the extra dosh for an overseas delivery.

I also would like to give my brother regular doses of FT, but he's in Germany. Not sure if he'd appreciate it anyway... but his birthday is coming up and I'm stuck for ideas!
