Hey! How did you get hold of the track titles for my next three triple CD concept albums?!

:D- "Hello, I am Bob Solomon and I am an alien."

:p- "Greetings, I am Otto Von Mobile. Take me to your leader."

- "My name is Rhombus 4-D, and I will be your abductor for this evening."

m y n a m e i s...a n d r e w

No offence to all the lovely Andrews out there, but when it comes to lift off in mysterious craft time, I'm hoping to be probed by something with a bit more of an exotic name tag.;)

Pretty sure he used to cause a lot of trouble for G-Force in Battle of the Planets.;)

Maybe Commander Felchar could help. I suspect a changed vowel
there.

Some of the names resemble those that alleged witches gave
to their familiars in old prints and court records.

My first thought was about the Chairman of Consignia, which used to be known by the perfectly functional name "Royal Mail" before some poncy image merchant got hold of it. The aforementioned Chairman apparently doesn't like the name "Consignia". Perhaps he'd like to choose from this list?

I'd like my post to be delivered to me by Professor Svenboydgollybros in future, thank you.

Hang on dosent he do a survival program on BBC2?

Wot? No X'YzYxxzm'tr'Wmx? Don't abductees read crap sci-fi?

There's far too many vowels in the list! :)

Indeed. Pyewackett, Ilemauzar, and Grizzel Greedigut would be right at home with that lot.

Good source of character names for RPGs: Van the Steadfast! Nementu the Slaughterer! Little Bucky of Venus!...er, maybe not.

Wasn't Rhombus 4-D a spaceship? From Hoova, IIRC.

Wow, that's an awful lot of abductors! How many humans do you reckon the average alien can abduct? I reckon that lot, if they work overtime, could dispose of the equivalent of the population of Wakefield . . .

Didn't someone work out that, given the number of abductions that are meant to have happened in the US, the biggest problem for the abductors would be air traffic control? :)

What a splendid idea. I shall pass on your suggestion in my next report.

Ray Meyer does the show. A little too close for my liking.

According to Colin Bennett, speaking on Jeff Rense's radio show on 11/2/02 (link above), the Venusian who George Adamski supposedly encountered later got named Orthon by a co-editor of the book Desmond Leslie and Adamski wrote. Presumebly, then, this influenced later names, maybe.

Colin Bennett has himself written a book about George Adamski called 'Looking for Orthon.'

Xiti from Itibi Ra II was no abducter, she was a contact.

I read the story about the Itibi Rayans in a book once, and it's one of the most fascinating, individual and far fetched contact stories I've ever read. The mysterious contactee Ludwig Pallman disappeared at some point. I was wondering if anyone had read first hand his book Cancer Planet Mission, and where i might get a copy.
Maybe I should start a new thrad.

here's a website poking fun at contactee names: http://www.skepticfiles.org/ufo2/kottname.htm
It's interesting that many of the abductor names listed here do not end in "O" as this site claims. They also claim that abductor names are "unconvincing" which is, if you think about it, a rather obvious thing to say. If you feel the story is a fantasy to begin with a name is just going to be part of the joke.

It is a fun list, though. I wonder what the stories are behind each one. I recognised Indrid Cold.

What does he expect them to be called? Bloody Martin Smith from Croydon?
To quote H2G2.

Is he/she/it at all related to R2D2?

That bloody EIEEUEE 7 still owes me Twenty bucks!

:)

... Is that what happened to EIEEUEEs 1 - 6? :D

Some of my favorites:

Val-Thor - Sounds like a character from He-Man or something. I don't care if he tries to probe me, I'd have a REALLY hard time taking him seriously.

Van the Steadfast - Abducted by aliens, or vikings...?

Captain Video and “The Boys from Clarion” - Good name for a band. Bad name for alien abductors.

And of course, Little Bucky of Venus. Nobody will ever take you seriously again when you tell them you were abducted by Little Bucky of ANYWHERE. ;)

Well, don't know about Captain Video (well, actually, I do since I saw the program once on tv); however, Bob Solomon works for Clariion and is a member of Technical Committee T11
(http://www.t11.org/index.htm).

Sort of fits.

There's another Bob Solomon who is a senior lecturer in Conventry.

And, yet another, who contributed an article to "Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour."

Bobs 1 and 3 could well be studying the humans, no? :p

I thought Zoltar was the baddie from Battle of the Planets? Does this mean he's real? And Zoltan was the Hound of Dracula?
