Rapist, Fugitive & Fraud? Is 'Arthur Knight' Really Nicholas Rossi?

The BBC is reporting that the doctor who has examined Rossi, who is never seen in public without his electric wheelchair and oxygen mask, believes he has nothing wrong with him (surprise, surprise) -

Prison GP has 'no concerns' over Nicholas Rossi's health

The doctor responsible for treating Nicholas Rossi in prison has told an extradition hearing she has no concerns about his current state of health.
Barbara Mundweil said Mr Rossi - who claims to a man called Arthur Knight - had been very ill with Covid but was "a lot better" now.
The GP told Edinburgh Sheriff Court she saw no issues with his oxygen levels.
She also felt there was no reason for his use of a wheelchair despite claims that he is not able to use his legs.

I particularly enjoyed this bit:

“Giving evidence at his extradition hearing, Dr Mundweil said she had seen CCTV footage appearing to show Mr Rossi kicking a door and then kicking a prison officer in the face.”

He's turned up at the hearing wearing a lawyer's gown and a kippah.

A court source said: “He’s spent so much time reading up on the law for his case he must’ve convinced himself he’s an actual lawyer. He must’ve bought it on Amazon or something. His legal team are probably hoping it keeps him quiet.”

Is this story being reported in the USA? Trying to find something not behind a paywall to get a slightly different slant on it.

Will he shoot the sheriff?

An American fugitive who faked his own death can be extradited from Scotland to his homeland, a sheriff has ruled.

Nicholas Rossi, who claims to be Arthur Knight and a victim of mistaken identity, is wanted in Utah to face rape charges.
The final decision on his extradition now rests with Scottish ministers.

Rossi, 35, was being treated for Covid-19 when he was arrested at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow on 13 December 2021.

He appeared before Edinburgh Sheriff Court via videolink on Wednesday to learn the outcome of the case.

Earlier in the morning the fugitive sat slumped in his wheelchair before the camera in Edinburgh's Saughton Prison with his face hidden.

But as Mungo Bovey KC was asking for his client to be excused, Rossi raised his head and shouted at the sheriff, calling him a "disgrace to justice".

At that point the clerk cut the video connection.

His stepfather was described as a part-time Engelbert Humperdinck impersonator.

That sounds like one of the French Knights insults in Monty Python.

'Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries, and your stepfather was a part-time Englebert Humperdink impersonator!'

Of course, this depends on whether his stepfather actually was an Englebert Humperdink impersonator, or whether people just described him as such.

I wonder if it would've been better for him if he'd just faced the original prosecution.
I mean, it was for a very serious charge, but now his behaviour has just escalated it more so!

Are the defence team considering a plea of insanity?

At first he sounds Irish and then he has an English accent straight after the Irish one, he is the rapist, and like someone said DNA evidence will sort him out.
He did a TV interview here in Scotland and the interviewer suggested he show his left forearm and the presence or absence of tatoos would sort it. He then said to he was just so tired from all that was going on that he couldn't do so.

LOL It's him then.
I cannot believe that his wife, if that is who she is, wants to be with him, she must have seen the tattoos and know it is him, it is extraordinary that she would want to be with a rapist unless she is as sick as he is.
Agreed on everything. Can the court not compel him to remove his shirt as that would go a long way to proving his identity?

As I recall, he originally claimed someone gave him matching tattoos while he was in a coma.
Correct. He claimed someone snuck into a hospital in Glasgow and tattooed him to look just like the rapey fellow. He said he’d been framed in a conspiracy led by Utah state prosecutor David Leavitt, involving “paedophilia, murder and cannibalism”.

Rossi is the one who says he was in a coma. I assume the hospital would not be allowed to confirm or deny that.

From personal experience, tattoos fade with age, and I'm sure there's a forensic study somewhere that can track the age of a tattoo from the fading, which could prove that the tattoos were much much older than he is trying to claim.

Part of me kind of wants that to be true - if only because being a stealth tattooist sounds like the coolest job in the world. Up there with the SBS's underwater intimate piercing specialists, and Shin Bet's covert breast enhancement squads.

I often wonder if the 'post-truth era' would be better described as 'post-dog ate my homework'. Overcomplexity is the order of the day - gone is the time when one simple, and sometimes almost believable, piece of bullshit would do:

But Miss, the dog - who is not really my dog but has been replaced by a cat in a dog-suit - took copies of my homework overnight, and then chewed on the originals to distract from his actual purpose. I fear that the details recorded in my efforts to relate 'What I did At the Weekend' are now being used to plan the enslavement and ultimate eradication of humanity by a race of alien water monkeys. Also, I can't do games - I have a letter from the New World Order.
