The weird fact is that there must be some "mystery infection source" in the city, but the patients don't cluster in one specific area.

Specialists say that it can be very difficult to locate the source, if at all possible. Creepy idea :?

Warning, bad computer translation:

In Amsterdam someone has died due to the veteran sickness, caused by the legionella bacterium. 17 people have been diagnosed with the infection in a short time. The authorities call that an unusually high number of patients.

Probably the bacterium came from the cooling installation of a large building. In Amsterdam there are approximately thirty of such installations. The 17 patients live scattered all over the city.

The first patient communicated himself Thursday and the last yesterday. Especially children and old people run risk.

Do you have a link to the site where this was reported?

Unless they have all visited a community swimming pool/jacuzzi/steam room, but Im sure that's one of the first questions that they would have been asked? Cooling towers can spread the infection over a very large area too.

I’m glad to see that the source has been located.
Reading about possible places for infection they mention large plumbing systems.
Do sprinklers get checked on a regular basis?
