Afterlife: Life After Death? Yes Or No—You Tell Me

Interesting and in places surprising survey results:

Iceland Vs Spain??

It also led me to this fascinating mindset:

"there must be something undefined beyond the mundane and that which can be known or can be proven"

Seems a little low for most places tbh. Less people believe in life after death in Catholic Spain and Portugal than the UK? - hmmm
Young people in Spain are largely non-religious. As a young Spanish friend told me "church is for old people ".

Perhaps there is more desperation/depression here than in those countries, so people in the UK have to have some sort of 'hope' of something better to come?

I've never believed in life after death, yet so many dead people have come to me, sometimes many years after they're gone.

I started working at a small company office and part of my job was keeping the offices clean. They had a huge hallway with framed photos on the walls, pictures of their many jobs and workers over the years. One morning I was alone in the office and was dusting the photos when I felt quite cold. There was a conference room at the end of this hall, and I got the creepy feeling that I was not alone. As I was dusting, I came across one photo of the owner's father working on one of the old jobs, he had worked there for years, almost until he passed on, and I could feel his extreme anguish, it was very upsetting.
The owner's wife came in and told me that the tenth anniversary of his death was the very next day, which is why I suppose he was there.

This survey shakes to the ground many of my assumptions about different countries. I'd be interested to know how the survey was carried out (perhaps tomorrow, I'm done for one day). Much is counter intuitive.

Is it desperation or lack of sunshine? What do people in the UK have to be desperate about more than other places (like the Ukraine or some places in Africa)?

One time only when my wife was away helping her mom with cancer, I felt a presence in the room with me and the room turned “ ice cold “.

Looking back now trying to analyze the situation, my only guess is that the ghost or spirit was absorbing the energy from the room trying maybe to materialize ?

On the other hand my wife claims she has seen her dead father twice with no problems.

No it's not just about the climate, as the map indeed shows. Anyway, lots of people like the British weather. It's something more than that.

I have a theory, but people will assume that I am saying Britain is crap and the rest of the world isn't, which is not the case.

Considering all the poverty in the world, the British are very lucky as such, but it isn't just about wealth. There are plenty of very poor places in the southern Mediterranean for example, but the standard of life is better, as a rule (in my opinion). Far more family orientated for one thing, with support, both financial and physically, from a large number of close-by relatives.

Their climate is also a big part of making them happier than they would otherwise be of course, but that wouldn't explain why people from Scandinavian countries seem to be happier and certainly less 'angry'.
This is my theory as to why, in Britain, you get hordes of drunks roaming the streets at the weekend, fighting, throwing up, vandalising things etc- it's because for some reason we're more 'angry' with life than people in lots of other countries, or certainly show the anger more, let's put it that way.

As for the religion side of it, I think the more happy/wealthy people are in life the less they need an 'afterlife' -which might explain Spain's statistics.
Let's face it, most people only pray to God when something goes wrong anyway. A bit like when I used to see a copper when I was driving and pray that he wouldn't find out that I'd got no car tax. Or mot. Or insurance.

Robert Bigelow who spent millions on UFO investigations has turned his wealth and time trying to figure out what happens in death.

Bigelow has offered a million dollars if someone can prove that a dead person can somehow communicate with the living.

He will not pay out the money because when you are dead, you’re dead.

When they say 'life after death' in that survey - what form of life after death are they talking about? The religious kind, the ghostly kind, the existence of some kind of consciousness in an Akashic Record kind of way?

Because if you ask a lot of people, they will often define it in their own way. If you ask someone if they believe in ghosts, for example, you might get a different answer to if you ask if they believe in Heaven and Hell, although both are a form of 'life after death'.

You get the million dollars if you prove consciousness after death accord to Robert Bigelow.

I really don’t know what that really means ?

Not exactly ...

The initial Bigelow Institute for Consciousness Studies (BICS) contest was announced in January 2021. It offered prizes to the authors of position papers judged best by an independent panel. There were several prizes awarded - one each for the 3 best papers, 11 for the runners-up, and 15 for "honorable mentions." These awards were announced in autumn 2021.

The follow-on competition is the BICS Challenge 2023. Applicants must submit proposals for research into consciousness and death. A total of $1,000,000 will be awarded in the form of research grants to the applicants whose proposals are judged best.

He, or the foundation, awarded just under $2 million in 2021 on these prizes. I find his commitment admirable.

...Not all the 2021 awardees were well-known outside of the field. Some (7) did not have Ph.D.s which indicates to me that the submissions were evaluated on pre-established criteria. Go team!
