Last weekend I was down in Lyme Regis and noticed the local paper (which I believe is the Bridport and Lyme Regis Echo ... ) running as its front page story "Child's ghost captured on camera" . The picture didn't look very convincing from a cursory glance, so I didn't buy a copy of the paper. Now, with that good old "why didn't you buy it while you were there, you idiot?" inevitability, I've been trying to follow up the story and sure enough, can't find anything about it. It has vanished from the newspaper's web-pages, because this week's stories have gone up in its place and they don't seem to have an archive. Do any of you have the details of the story, and/or a copy of the picture you coud post?

Could be anything really. And what on earth is indoor camping all about?

We did indoor camping when I was in the Cubs, we were only about 8 or 9 or something so it was deemed a bit safer and an intro to the pasttime.

Looks like a Photoshop to me.

Is this the one?
That's the kidder; many thanks, at least I can now be more confident about being right in the first place that its not very convincing ....

Quite impressed with some of the 'sponsored links' on that web-site :

Sania Mirza Photos; Quality Megaphones; Sound Recorder; News of the Weird; Myspace Music Video Codes; Replacement Windows; Adoption Agencies; We Love Freebies; FlyakiteOSX Transformation Pack; Tattoo Designs; Hair Loss; Adult Acne; Model Yamila Diaz-Rahi; Supermodel Elsa Benitez; Soup Recipes; Cookie Recipes; Generic Cialis; turkyasam.com

Not throwing the net too wide, then .... :)

Anyone got a link to the photo as it seems it's not on this thread now? :?

I'd say it's a time exposure.
Slow shutter speed maybe, but you wouldn't need a time exposure with a digital camera under normal indoor lights.

So it could be a motion-blurred image of a child moving past...

or it could be a motion-blurred image of a ghost moving past...

Seems really really fake to me, and it reminds me a lot of a photo I've seen before...beh, I'll find a link if I remember where I saw it

Still dunno wether to think it's fake or not.

Never seen a ghost myself and they could come in all shapes and forms and people can take adavantage of it when showing photos.

We're just supposed to believe what the person that took the picture says. It's nothing spectacular. Most digital cameras are less receptive to light and so have to use a slower shutter speed to obtain a usable exposure. It's just a picture of a young girl running through the frame. P.S. They need to learn how to use their white balance.

Its a digital photo taken indoors with the flash turned off. The cameras tend to adjust the shutter speed according to the light available...and yes they do need to set their white ballance correctly ;)

I don't know but it's surely a vast improvement over the OTHER kind. <g>

I have to confess that the "ghost" image doesn't look like a child to me, running or otherwise.

What it actually looks like to me is a very, very, very fuzzy image of a child-sized CHAIR, with one or two arms, just possibly a child's combination chair-desk, with the right arm sufficiently wide to serve as a writing surface.

come on!

Are there really people THAT gullible out there that would consider this a ghost? The person who took it must remember a child running in front of them as they took a photo. Unless they think everyone is that gullible.

You can even see the movement of the child through the peanut like shape that it’s head has made. It dips down in the middle, in an almost exaggerated way that a fast moving child would make.

Low light, slow shutter speed… lots of children around. Case closed.

Something on it looks like a stool but she ain't even turned towards that direction to be writing on a desk?

Don't see a desk looking thing but part of it does look like a stool.
