Nineteen Eighty Four

Animal Farm can be read as satirising just about anything... but it works with a very broad theme: an oppressed people rise up and shake off their overlords, establishing a new and free society which is slowly undermined.
Read in the right light, it could mean whatever you want it to mean.
 
While Animal Farm is specifically about the Soviet Revolution I think he also meant it to be about the unfortunate tendancy of Revolutions to go bad.
