This is something I remember from the Unexplained magazine back at the beginning of the 80s. There was an article about some type of ape that had been discovered at the beginning of the 20th century, I think, or maybe the late 19th century. The name that has been stuck in my head since I read about it is Nunanda, but obviously that's wrong as it doesn't show up on any google search, nor do any variations I can think of, Nanunda, Nannunda, etc.
I was about ten at the time so maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I remember the photo was of a dead ape being propped up with a stick or something to face the camera. It had large black eyes and the picture really freaked me out at the time for some reason. I think the jist of the story was that the photo was a hoax but I'm not sure.
Anybody know what I'm talking about? I'd like to see the picture again.
