Hello this is my first post on here hope i am posting it in the right place.

A couple of years ago me and my boyfriend went to Thiland, we were staying in a beach hut. It was a long stretch of beach and we were the last resort, as it was the beginning of the season it was just us and another women staying there.
On our second night there i woke up and was convinced there was something in the room i could just see this dark figure in the corner by the door, I didn´t move trying to convince myself it was nothing and i was imagining it. Then my boyfriend started moaning in his sleep so i just stroked his arm to try and calm him when he shot out of bed screaming at the corner of the room were i thought i could see something! I asked him what was the matter and he said he was dreaming some dark figure was by the door so when he woke he went for it. I turned the torch on (as there is no electric after 10pm) but there was nothing there. The door was lock so no one could have broken in. The next day we talked about it and both said it seemed really threatening almost evil.

Hope this all makes sense it has been bothering me for a few years does anyone have any idea?
Thanks

Hi Alfster, and welcome!

Sounds like you might have experienced a "shadow ghost." There's a great thread on here about that, but I just had a lousy experience with the lame "search" function. MODS!

Was what you saw human-shaped? Did it move?

Welcome...... human. ;)

No chance it was something you mentioned first and then the boyfriend just agreed and tried to scare you? Did you spend any more nights at that location with similar happenings? I might say it was a shadow being of some type as well. Theres many reports of them on here.

Hello thanks for your replys

The thing was quiet human shaped but seemed to be a bit out of shape if you see what i mean. It didnt move it was there one minute then as soon as my boyfriend went for it it just dissapeard. I didnt say anything to my boyfriend about it he told me then i said that is what i saw. We did spend a lot of time at this place and nothing more happend so we just thought my boyfriend scared it off screaming at it! He bloody scared me when he went for it!

What is a shadow ghost? I will have a look around see if i can see anything on that.

this is really interesting because I had a strange experience in Bali which made me srart thinking about the power of cultural belief...

I don't consider myself to have ever experienced anything conclusively supernatural, but this experience comes close.

I was trying to get to sleep on my first night in Bali, but was very edgy. Couldn't stop myself staring at one corner of the hotel room. I was almost scared to close my eyes and stop watching that corner. I put it down to jet lag, nervousness at being in a new country etc. I managed to close my eyes and keep them closed for a few minutes, though I was so frightened I definitely did not drop off to sleep.

Then I felt two sharp tugs on my sheet, near my feet. I yelled and switched on the lamp and accused my room mate of trying tp freak me out. She completely denied it, and due to the fact that her bed was a good distance from mine and that she had obviously just woken up, I grudgingly accepted what she said as the truth. I calmed down and...was very calm. Suddenly realised that all feelings of fear had gone, that I no longer felt the need to watch the corner, so I just went to sleep, with no trouble at all. It was most strange. I am a nervous person and I would think that something like that would have made me sleep with the light on (and possibly clutching a deodorant spray can and a lighter) all night.

Anyway, everywhere I went in Bali I saw little offerings of palm leaves woven into little pouches with flowers and incense and that generally the people seemed quite superstitious. I don't actually know much about Balinese culture, but I thought that it was strange that the only thing like that I've ever experienced occurred in a place where belief in malicious spirits seemed to be a fairly mundane thing.

The stronger the belief, the more likely you are to conjure up a spirit.
Seek and ye shall find...

It's incidents like this that brought me more towards John Keel's way of thinking about unusual events.

I did a Google search for 'Thai House Spirits' and found a ton of sites.

Apparently, in Thailand it's a tradition to create little spirit houses because the Thai are very 'superstitious' about ghosts. (I would say they are simply being prudent.) Did you notice any of these little houses near your hut?

Here's a link.

Thai people are really afraid of ghosts ("PHI" - ผี). No joke should be said about them otherwise they might come. Anyway numerous Thai magazines about ghosts and spirits are available in Thai bookshops.

Did you, by any chance, make any jokes about ghosts or superstition before going to sleep?

Here's a couple more.
