Someone I know said that they'd attended the exorcism of a house where a teenage boy had been playing Dungeons & Dragons. I don't believe that this was a demonic manifestation (it’s only a game!), and argued that this sort of thing probably only delayed the onset of more serious psychological problems for the poor lad involved. He could see my point, but maintained his stance. I have the utmost respect for him, but feel he may be slightly misguided in his analysis of the situation, fair 'nuf.

I relayed this story to a colleague (in fact, a trustee of the charity I work for), she is a person of great integrity. She is also a Christian, just a different flavour. She told me that, whilst living in London, she too had seen an exorcism! This one was in a church; the woman involved had been involved in ‘the darker side of the occult’ for 20 years. She said 'the stuff that came out of her was like spiritual shit'. I thought she meant verbally, in a Regan style (your mother sacks cooks in hell!). She explained that she meant physically (again I thought, soiled herself or puked) but, apparently 'stuff' seeped through the skin on her face and hands, and lots of it too. The people conducting the rights decided that it should carry on private (it was very distressing for all involved) and over the course of six months a team of priests 'worked on' the woman until she was OK. This was in Wimbledon. This is where Wombles come from! My friend said, evil had infested this woman, and that was how it manifested itself, in the form a smelly discharge.

I'm at a bit of a loss. I can't imagine that the woman was really possessed, so what would cause the spiritual shit to happen? Even viewing it from her Christian standpoint, there was a tangible substance (exoplasm ™)

That is creepy. I'd love to hear the medical explanation for that one...!

sounds gross.

I wouldn't be willing to go over there, no way-have you seen repossesed?
It's a movie.

PEA SOUP AAARUGHH!

Eeeeuuuuwwww...

Not nice!

Whats wrong with pea soup....its only inedible...

Sounds a bit like the 'blood oozing from skin' subject that's been discussed in another thread here - apparently it's caused by extreme stress. If it didn't look like blood, it could just have been extremely smelly sweat ; again, this could be stress.
I know that during fasting, a process known as ketosis (fat breakdown) causes smelly breath and urine, so this could be something similar. If this woman was experiencing ketosis, was wetting herself (quite likely during a prolonged exorism session), maybe farting as well (stress again) as well as venting lungfuls of smelly breath and sweating profusely - this could explain the stink.

Hmmm, interesting. I had wondered if this had coincided with withdrawal from heroin (or some such), which could have left her at a low ebb. Perhaps if she hadn't been looking after herself, she may have been a bit unsavoury and a little dirty. Sweating with dirty skin, greasy! We all get death breath too sometimes. If she'd also been involved in dark stuff, what sort of state would she be in emotionally?

Mr Claw that's exactly why I want to hear the medical explanation... I think that's the "other side of the coin"...

Personally being of unchristian nature I find this kind of thing a bit worrying.
For example if this physical manifestation actually happened what sort of care was the woman recieving and was this exorcism performed with her consent?

Was she in her right mind enough to give her consent?

To me it sounds like a hideous abuse of her personal human rights.

I believe the established churches are fairly careful about who they excorcise. There are some fairly horendous legal implications.

On the other hand there should be more excorcisms. The solicitors and barristers are often in league with the devil and possession is nine tenths of the law.

Dropped into this neglected thread on Stu's advice ;)

3/24 Man blames demons for molestation

By JOHNNY JOHNSON, Sentinel Staff

Cameron Upshaw had an excuse for sexually assaulting his stepdaughters -- devils made him do it.

Demonic possession, Upshaw said in his confession to investigators, was the reason the 33-year-old man repeatedly molested his 8- and 10-year old stepdaughters last year.

The possession had occurred after Upshaw had prayed over and laid hands on a sexual deviant who was possessed, he said. Because he was not "prayed up" at the time, the demons transferred into his body, causing him to lust after his wife's elementary- and middle school-aged daughters.

Upshaw was sentenced to 25 years in prison by 145th District Judge Campbell Cox II after Upshaw pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

I suppose he might be nuts but IMHO it just goes to show the lengths scmbags will go to to deny responsibility for their actions.

"sounds like a hideous abuse of her personal human rights"

How so? I read nothing hideous or even mildly abusive described.

if she was detained for a ritual against her will it seems like an abuse of human rights.

having a bunch of priests "work on" you for six months sounds like brain washing. also was she detained against her will during this six month period?

Just what I meant

"if she was detained for a ritual against her will it seems like an abuse of human rights."

Right. If she was. If she was placed on a rack, that would have torture and if they had painted her face white and stuck a red nose on her that would have been clown make-up.

My response to you saying "sounds like abuse" was to indicate that nothing reported did sound like abuse. If you imagine other things happening that are abuse, those things sound like abuse.

Read the initial report by Mr Claw carefully. If you find something that indicates the subjects unwillingness to undergo whatever procedures were used, please point it out.

This is how rumours start. Someone says "She was abused. I read about it" when in reality, they never read anything of the kind.

the banishing

Whoever you are you'd better stop vanishing
You don't stand a ghost of a chance against me
I've taken the Church's diploma in banishing
And I exorcise often and regularly
I'm honoured to be on the Archbishop's list
As a fully qualified exorcist

You've lost all respect for the curate and vicar
And even the Bishop has left you unmoved
You'd better go no--or if possible quicker
To ensure my professional prowess is proved,
For no decent demon can ever resist
The power of a qualified exorcist

Of devils and poltergeists, spirits and spectres
I've studied the habits and actions and vices
I'm fully eqipped with deminic detectors
And the most modern techniques and devices
No goblin or ghost should agree to be laid
By a layman untrained in the tricks of the trade
If you've got any spirit you'll surely insist
On a properly qualified exorcist.

POSTSCRIPT In the nineteen seventies a dreadful murder took place in Osset Yorkshire by people doing a bodged "exorcism"--on a mentally ill young man, Michael Taylor.
Despite this terrible case there are still people dabbling with these dangerous matters, chasing"vampires and evil demonic presences and suchlike ".
I found the poem in a book about the above

Exorcism gets ghost of a chance

Published on Apr 24, 2004

Residents in Muang Ngor village are anxiously waiting to see whether an exorcism held on Thursday can restore peace to their hamlet, which has been shaken by reports that many of their neighbours are possessed by evil spirits.

Since the beginning of April, four villagers have been hospitalised suffering from hysterical behaviour allegedly due to possession, village headman Boonrit Duangkosoom said.

"Doctors cannot explain what's happened to them. Physically, they are not ill," Boonrit said.

Those possessed would suddenly break down in tears, sob uncontrollably, complain of headaches and become delirious before losing consciousness, he added.

"When they wake up, they can't remember what they did, said or how strange their behaviour had been," Boonrit said.

Nualla-orng Lonlua, 36, who has manifested the symptoms several times, said that she felt she had been possessed.

"I developed a headache and chest pain before losing consciousness. When I came to I was in hospital and doctors said I was physically fine," she said.

Boonrit said the hospitalisation of people such as Nualla-orng had worried other villagers so much that they had agreed to contribute to an "exorcism fund" totalling Bt15,530.

Urai Dangchaiyaphum, 50, a resident who witnessed the exorcism, said most residents were hoping the ritual would save their village from evil, though they do not fully believe in exorcism. "We are waiting to see what happens after the ritual," she said.

On Thursday, an abbot and seven other monks from Udon Thani were invited to cast out the phantoms. The monks said they had successfully caught three ghosts in separate covered sections of bamboo.

At times of high stress blood vesals come so close to the surface of the skin that they stain the sweat.

Could this be what she saw (in this reading the exorsism would not be helping her but causing her destress of the highest order.

Horrific tale of haunted house and children suffering demonic possession, with classic fuzzy photo of something standing in the porch.

Police captain supports claims that family was tormented by 200 demons as eerie picture of figure on porch of empty house emerges

Latoya Ammons, who is a mother of three, told authorities that demonic spirits caused her 9-year-old son to walk backwards on a hospital ceiling

Independent. Rob Williams. 28 January 2014

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/article9090166.ece/BINARY/original/v2-IndianaHaunting.jpg

A police captain in Indiana has said he believes the story of a woman who claimed her children were being attacked and possessed by hundreds of demons.

Latoya Ammons, who is a mother of three, told authorities that demonic spirits caused her 9-year-old son to walk backwards on a hospital ceiling and her 12-year-old daughter to levitate above her bed.

The unbelievable story, which emerged in the Indianapolis Star newspaper, and is detailed in social work reports, was supported by Gary Police Captain Charles Austin.

Captain Austin, a police officer with 36-years experience, initially said he was sceptical about the family's claims but that he had been convinced after visiting the home and conducting interviews with the family.

The bizarre and unlikely tale began when Ms Ammons, her mother, Rosa Campbell, and three children - moved into a rental house on Carolina Street in November 2011. Ammons reported a plague of flies swarming onto the window of the porch despite it being the middle of winter.

She also reported regularly hearing things going bump in the night, along with the sound of footsteps and doors creaking and shadowy figures pacing in her living room.

According to the Indy Star matters took a turn for the worse in March 2012 when Ammons reported witnessing her daughter floating above her bed.

"The family said demons possessed Ammons and her children, then ages 7, 9 and 12," the Indy Star reports. "The kids' eyes bulged, evil smiles crossed their faces, and their voices deepened every time it happened." After contacting clairvoyants Ammons was told the house was filled with more than 200 demons.

The paper reports that the behaviour of Ammons' children then began to get worse.

Just days later Ammons claims she saw her 7-year-old fly out of the bathroom and that her 12-year-old daughter required stitches after receiving a hit to the head.

Documents obtained by the local newspaper from the social services department detail Ammons claims that there are demons in the house that are attacking the children.

The claims of demonic possession gained further attention after a photograph of the property was distributed showing what some have suggested is a "figure" visible on the enclosed porch.

According to the Indy Star "officials say the home was unoccupied at the time the photograph was taken."

The family's claims have been supported by priests, police captain Austin and family service caseworkers - all of whom have stated they believe a supernatural evil resides in the house.

The paper reports that such is the police fascination with the story that the current owners had to ask officers to stop driving past the house at all hours.

Not everyone is swallowing the bizarre story however.

After visiting the family home a local doctor described Ammons in his notes as "delusional" and wrote about "delusions of ghost in home" and "hallucinations."

An unnamed witness described to caseworkers how the kids were "performing" for Ammons. They also said that Ms Ammons encouraged the behaviour.

The paper reports that the children were eventually removed from the family home, and Ms Ammons moved from the property.

The day after the children were taken from Ammons the hospital chaplain called on Rev. Mike Maginot to carry out an exorcism on the children and their mother.

The children were returned six months later when the problems subsided.

There are now new tenants in the property and the landlord has not received any further reports of demonic possession.

A poltergeist I can believe, or even the suspicion of one causing the kids to run riot in hysteria, but demonic possession from "200" entities? Not so convincing.

Wow.. Very disturbing stuff. The wet boot prints sound like enough heat being removed to cause condensation? In the book "Drumming at the Edge of Magic" the author witnesses a dancing possessed voodoo practitioner begin to appear as if walking backwards up into the air before flying some distance into a tree, IIRC. It sounds very similar. Also similar to seance activity, but for the demonic possession aspect. Any investigation Into the previous owners' lives? Perhaps occultists?

Possessed child in the news

I assumed someone else would have started a thread about this by now, but can't see it, so just in case...

The full text:

A US police captain says he believed a story about a woman who claimed her children were possessed by demons.

Latoya Ammons, from Indiana, said her three children walked up walls, levitated and spoke in voices.

Official reports filed in 2012 backed up her claims, with psychologists stating that they saw the nine-year-old child speak in "different deep voices" and walk "up the wall backwards".

"He flipped over and landed on his feet," they added.

Gary Police Captain Charles Austin, who has more than 35 years of experience, said he had been convinced by the story.

According to a local newspaper, the Indianapolis Star, he described himself as a "believer" after visiting the house and interviewing Ms Ammons and her family.

'Growling noises'

Official Indiana state documents detail more events, apparently witnessed by medical experts and those outside the family.

The children's names were removed from the papers to protect their identities.

"Medical staff reported they observed the children and heard the seven-year-old making growling noises and his eyes rolled into the back of his head.

"They observed [name blank] lifted and thrown into the wall with nobody touching him."

The report also detailed the time when the seven-year-old "walked up the wall" in front of a number of medical professionals.

"[Name blank] began to have a weird smile on his face and he charged at the grandmother's stomach and head butted her several times until she grabbed his hands and started praying.

"[He] was speaking in a different deep voice saying 'It's time to die,' 'l will kill you,' and staring around the room.

"[He] had the weird grin on his face and began to walk backwards while the grandmother was holding his hand and he walked up the wall backwards while holding the grandmother's hand and he never let go.

"He flipped over and landed on his feet in front of the grandmother and sat down in the chair."
'Dark shadows'

At other times Ms Ammons said she saw her daughter "levitate" out of her bed, while the 12-year-old also reported being "thrown across the room and grabbed by dark shadows".

Elsewhere in the reports, it shows that an unnamed witness had suggested the "mother may have mental health concerns".

They also said it may be that the "children are performing for the mother and that she's encouraging the behaviour".

The three children were removed from the family home by authorities after the reports were filed.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the day after the children were taken from Ammons, the hospital chaplain called on Rev Mike Maginot to carry out an exorcism on the children and their mother.

"Whenever you would praise God in Latin, no reaction," he said.

"But you start condemning the demon, condemning the evil spirit, all of a sudden she [the child] is reacting to that."

The children were returned six months later when the problems subsided.

There are now new tenants in the property and the landlord has not received any further reports of demonic possession.

I'm shaking my head. When an experienced police officer "believes a story" and hospitals call exorcists instead of child protection authorities, something is very wrong in the community, let alone that family. I mean what kind of f'kn hospital is this?! Certainly not one that should be operating under a State banner / authority. Those poor kids, in such a vulnerable psychological state surrounded by adults with no connection to reality themselves. Ms Butterfly should inform the relevant State medical and law enforcement bodies so an investigation can be done into the police and hospital practices.

A little further googlesnooping finds that the majority of 'sources' reporting this are fringe. I'm surprised the BBC site has posted it. Their newshound, Ms Butterfly, citing the Indianapolis Star, reports that "psychologists" witnessed the wallwalking. Yet Foxnewsinsider reports that "witnesses say the boy walked up a wall backwards" - nothing about trained specialists being witness to this at all.

I posted this in another thread about 14 months ago. It was the account of Swiss friend of Algerian parentage about his Aunt who he casually claimed was possessed!

""I was younger. A child. We celebrated my cousin's wedding in a giant venue which was just rebuilt back then. As in every big marriage there the guests all slept in a part of the venue. Women in a giant room and men in an other.

My aunt started saying she wasn't feeling well. When everyone woke up for the "party" to continue she started acting weird. People didn't say anything. Then at noon she closed all the doors where people were eating. She screamed in the middle of the room and everybody was silent. She started walking around and speak loud enough so everyone would hear her. She started in an arabic, then in french, then in english, then in some languages no one knows. Her voice wasn't her and she were acting in a strange way. Then she/he said it was time to reaveal everyone's darkest secrets. She revealed things no one knew about except each person who was concerned. Like who stole what, who raped who, who was pregnant. She said something about each adult (and that's lot) who was in the room. When she finished she fainted on the floor. When she woke up she said she remembered of nothing.

My whole family called an exorcist (a muslim one). He tried to heal her. When he reached the spirit by talking with him it told him that he (the spirit himself) wasn't bad. He was just looking for a body to rest as he was killed in a concentration camp. During his research the exorcist found out that the venue where the wedding was organized was during the war a concentration camp. The exorcist's never managed to make it go. My aunt's been living with it. She knows everything before it happens. Like when my sister had an abortion. That's how my mom knew about it. My sister and my aunt don't talk to each other. This + so many other things.

My family's learnt to live with it. They still invite her. I have to say I was so afraid to stay in the same room as her. Once I was watching TV and she was there with me and my mom. My mom left the living room. When I realized I was only with her I got scared but acted like nothing bothered me. I smiled at her and she smiled back. Maybe it was all in my head but I swore the person who was smiling back wasn't my aunt. That was something else. I got the scare of my life. Though everyone stopped talking about it some said that the spirit didn't live in her anymore. Others say it's in her son as he's been having dreams about others that always happen."
