"Pratchett Translated" European Day of Languages

Thursday 26 September – 6pm Admission free

Venue: Examinations Hall, Trinity College Dublin

Booking: https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/pratchett-translated-tickets-63435853345

In celebration of the European Day of Languages, join us for an exploration of how comic fantasy author, Terry Pratchett's famous Discworld novels are translated.

We will be joined by many of Pratchett's translators to discuss how each one of them tackled the same challenges in their own languages: French (Patrick Couton), German (Andreas Brandhorst), Greek (Anna Papastaurou), Hungarian (Anikó Sohár), Italian (Pier Francesco Paolini), Polish (Piotr W. Cholewa) and Spanish (Albert Solé, Martínez Roca).

This event, organised by EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) and Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation, and generously supported by ESSE (European Society for the Study of English).
