So why's it so cold right now?
Temperatures plunged to -12C (10.4F) overnight, on the coldest night so far of Britain's big freeze.
...
But temperatures are still a long way off the record low of -27C (-16.6F) in northern Scotland 14 years ago.

I think the fact that it's cold right now is due to a meteorological phenomenon called winter! ;)

It's nice to actually have a proper winter for the first time in a while :)

Global warming? Pah!

For working out an average temperature, doesn't there have to be a low as well as a high?

Just a quick one. It seems the ring of fire is getting quote active recently, so im predicting a tsumani / category 6 (at least) volcanic eruption somewhere in the Pacific within the next month. Maybe Rabaul in Papua NG, or equally possible a few thousand kilometres away on the Saipan seamounts. watch this space!

Well, it wouldn't be a Ring of Fire if there weren't volcanos around it, pooping off all the time! :D

The only Ring of Fire I know is after a good hot curry, and it definitely gets worse when I start pooping off...

Hmm, not sure what happened here. Still think a big one is coming but won't put a timesclae on it. Drat!

I think NASA will come clean about Nibiru this year.

Mainly because every amateur astronomer will be able to see it.

I don't know why, but I fear something is going to happen to Angela Ripon.

I hope I am wrong.

The real death of Elvis Presley will be announced, together with the details of his secret life, under an assumed identity, since his first 'death'.

Once again, Britain will be called 'the sick man of Europe' in 2009 (or next year).

9.) Big scandal involving radio 1 DJ and politician, tabloid newspaper gets into trouble for naming several people they thought would be more likely to be involved - some on their list turn out to have been involved

does anyone ever check back through these? apart from being about 3 years early etc ...

Yes, yes, yes! But don't forget, the world has ended. As you also successfully predicted. :?

yeah it has, it's just *they* don't want you to know about it. Anyway, I also predicted it wouldn't, so I had a 50/50 chance of being right on that one ...
