Psychic powers explained?

The UK's Channel 5 ran a Psychic! show on Sunday [14th Sept] (I'm suprised I couldn't track down a mention here) where Alistair Cook ran through the full rnage of typical psychic abilities - messages from the dead, psychic surgery, starting stoppoed watches, spoon bending, photographing orbs etc., etc. and managed to convice an awful lot of that he (and they in some cases) had genuine powers.

The pay off that the show ended by elling you he has no powers and they were all tricks. It looks to be a precursor for a new six part series starting this friday which will explain the secrets behind these tricks. Derren Bron will also guest on this

I know in some ways this has been one before (I know I have seen psychic surgery done before) and I recently missed most of something like 'Secrets of Psyhcis Revealed' on Sky One (I only saw the end where they revealed they don't even rely on cold reading most of the time but plant stooges in the queues to chat to people about hat they wanted to find out) but it should prove interesting nonetheless
