Romero's Dead Films

Not a Dead film, but Romero's lost work The Amusement Park has been released by Shudder, over half a century since it was shelved by the Lutherans who commissioned it. They wanted a gentle PSA about growing old, they got a surreal nightmare of old age where the sweet old man is treated horrendously throughout.

It seems to be a warning to be nice to the old folks, but in effect it's a stark, disturbing message that old age is absolute Hell because nobody cares about you. I hope that's not true, but this does make you think. It's basically Romero's equivalent of the UK's Apaches or The Finishing Line.

Looks far-out. Wow.

A sequel (sort of) to Night of the Living Dead.

Even though it's easy to confuse Hollywood's nostalgia-based content with an ageless Eldritch terror, it's important to remember that it's really just a soulless industry created by humans. Don't beat yourself up; it's an easy mistake to make.

So when you see that they're making a sequel to 1968's Night of the Living Dead, you don't have to question your sanity by wondering if you only imagined that Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead already exist. You're not suffering from memory loss; Hollywood is.

Amazon's MGM division is in final negotiations to acquire worldwide rights to the Night of the Living Dead sequel that Nikyatu Jusu (Nanny) is directing for Village Roadshow Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment, Westbrook, Origin Story and the late George A. Romero's Sanibel Films.
While specifics as to the financials haven't been disclosed, we understand that the deal has emerged from a highly competitive situation. The Walking Dead's LaToya Morgan scripted the film we were first to report on, which will be released by MGM theatrically.
