Way back in the early-mid 80s, there was a strange case of some kids reporting having seen a bear on Hackney Marshes during one snowy winter. Despite all sorts of searches (helicopets - the lot), nothing was ever found.
Prior to that by a few weeks or months (I can't rememebr now) a couple of headless bears had been found floating in the River Lea - which also passes through Hackney Marshes. There was speculation that the mysterious "bear" wandering the marshes coulc be connected in some way.
After this, the trail seems to go cold. Does anyone know what ever came of the strange story? Was anything ever found? Did officialdom ever get tot he bottom of it?
