I came accross this interesting article about the above incident, which may interest the readers of this sub-forum. Little Rissington is a hard to deny occurence that happened during a time of many really good sightings and in particular the same period as the mainbrace/topcliffe sightings which are also hard to discount. I had a quick search around the forum to see if I am repeating something but I do not think I am.

Dr. David Clarke has a new book out, which is mentioned in two posts I made earlier today in the "Condign Report: The MOD's UFO files" thread, ie:
http://www.forteantimes.com/forum/viewt ... 720#907720
http://www.forteantimes.com/forum/viewt ... 762#907762

The posts are from articles in The Telegraph and Times respectively.
The new book, The UFO Files: The Inside Story of Real-Life Sightings, is published by the National Archives in Kew, west London, and is based largely on MoD files released there. It traces the story of UFO sightings in Britain from the first decade of the 20th century.
It seems the UFO phenomenon is at long last being given some academic respect.

(I hadn't heard of the Rissington incident before, but I was pleased to see that aircraft from RAF Tangmere got involved, because in the early 60s I lived within sight of Tangmere, albeit many miles away, and spent many hours watching aircraft movements there through a telescope!)

Incedible that this incident was "hidden" for so long.

It was on TV and I still have the recording, so like a lot of great cases, its just that noone pays any attention and even if they did pay attention, they forget. Look at the British press for example, it's almost like looking into a pond of Koi carp. I was going to upload the show but I see some other nosey person has already done so,

I think it's the American version, coz I dont remember the narrator being a cheesey American, I will dig out the vid in case there is more info in it.

Interesting that the 'Most Secret' folders shown in that video have covers marked with a large red X

- did the term 'X Files' actually predate the TV series? :?

Actually I cant find that one! I have another one about the Farnborough UFO that is presented by the composite being known as David Clarke And The Andy Roberts unit. They say it is the number2 best sighting, http://www.forteantimes.com/strangedays ... p_ten.html but I wont upload that obviously since they are FT regulars lol Maybe if you install some illegal software and download it illegally off some illegal website you might find the show, it was called "Britain's secret ufo hunters" , it is an excellent documentary.

Just again

Just thought I would add nothing in particular. just want to keep this above alot of the nonsense on this forum! " Lights in the sky for gods sake!

Yes, definitely.

I'm not really a watcher of YouTube shows, let alone UFO related ones, but I see Clarke is doing one on the Topcliffe case, which is linked (at least in the minds of ufologists) through Operation Mainbrace to the Little Rissington sighting:

Little Rissington is one of my favourites, perhaps beaten only by the Farnborough (Stan Hubbard) sightings mentioned above.
