Does any one know if there is a decent biography of Alice Nutter, or a history of the Nutter family published any where?

Lady Alice Nutter was the wife of Sir Robert Nutter of Roughlee Hall, Lancashire. She was hung for witchcraft in Lancaster in (I think) 1612. She offered no defence against the charge. What I find interesting is a rumour that the reason for this is that she was a Catholic and didn't want to expose the local Catholic population to possible persecution. I think her husband and son were both Catholic martyrs.

Does any one know if wich hunts and Catholic hunts were really the same thing?

Around 1800 my ancestors lived in Roughlee Hall, and there is a tradition that we are desended from the Nutters - though no concrete evidence for this other than our having lived in their house.
