The White Thing (Trussville, Alabama Cryptid)

Not really sure whether this ought to go in Cryptozoology or Urban Legends... it originates from what seems to be a cryptozoological entity, but seems to have developed into something more like the classic urban legend of CHUDs...

I don't think it's a Bigfoot type creature - the first one sounds like it could have been a white cougar or bear (there are, IIRC, white populations of "black" bears), whereas the second sounds like a hoax or urban legend - but a very creepy one... makes me think of "The Pale Man" from Pan's Labyrinth...

Anyone heard anything similar to this before?
