That article makes asylum seekers sound like feral cats or stray dogs. Even going so far as to round them up and ship them elsewhere. Why don't they go that extra step and sterilise and microchip them?

The government here are all confused on the issue. They don't want asylum seekers (queue-jumping good-for-nothings the lot of them), but they do want existing Australians to breed more (because a higher population would mean economic growth, and we've got those vast tracts of wilderness that haven't been paved over yet).

Now, of course, I 'm confused because I disagree with both of the above policies (we can barely support the population we have without completely destroying our wilderness areas, and yet we shouldn't be turning asylum seekers away, or locking them up in prison without reason).

Of course, the reason they try to come here is because we're too soft on them. We only lock them up in detention centres for years on end before finally sending them back. What we apparently should be doing is leaving them at sea to starve and/or drown.

Well of course. Isn't that the way it works? I deplore violence against the people I agree with, but support it against the people I disagree with. I'm only human after all.

Seriously, I was merely trying to highlight the futility of attempting to discuss the matter rationally with the type of oik who goes around putting feces through other people's letter boxes. I don't care what they're motivations are, they're the sort of people who find setting homeless people on fire funny.

Now maybe you're the sort of person who thinks a scathing editorial in The New Yorker will put them in their place. Fine, we need people to do that sort of thing as well. I just don't think it's going to have much impact on the people terrorising asylum seekers.

If you read the previous posts i've already said i don't have a problem with doing things the right way.
What i do object to is them coming into the country by the tansit van load to be housed etc when there are already families, all over the country, split up in different B+B's waiting to be housed as well!! and these imigrants jump the Q coz it's bad P.R for the authorities to keep em in hotels.
I don't know the solution any better than anyone else, but how long is it going to be before the people in power look like doing sommit? The french don't want them either, they're happy to let them try and walk thru the tunnel for gods sake. So its no wonder they did a deal with us to get rid of the camp.

I thought we where talking about asylum seakers. If we are then people who have posibly sufferd unimaginable horrors kind of need some stability don't you think.

And if France can't see how immagration will benefit their economy thet they don't deserve the boost it would give.
