I've been a fan for years and some of the tales will undoubtedly send a shiver up your spine. It covers traditional Youkai & Yurei and well as other Japanese spiritual beasties & monsters. It's fascinating stuff and and author has written a number of books, his title on the Yurei takes pride of place in my collection.
 
No Tengu eggs though you do mention them.

De Visser suspects that Tengu are transformed humans; this would account for the lack of females (Described as wearing court dress with red Hakama, and lots of makeup) -To become a Tengu you have to have a big ego-most unlike the traditionally humble Japanese woman!
