Great Acts Of Stupidity

They're more for some stability. It's not beyond reason, though you'd have to design the extensions to fit under the car. Again, it's a matter of leverage rather actual weight lift.

A Grade A moron.

A man has been spotted catching a lift by jumping on the back of a fire engine.

Engineer Steve Ridley was on his way home from work when he saw the man run and jump to catch hold of the railings on the back of the vehicle. His passenger filmed the "odd moment" on Thursday, where the man held on to the engine for at least six minutes.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.

Mr Ridley said he found the incident, which happened in Forton Road in Gosport, Hampshire at 15:30 GMT, "bizarre" and joked that perhaps the man "thought the floor was lava".

He said the man ran straight past Mr Ridley's van into the middle of the road and headed straight towards the fire engine "with purpose - he was definitely on a mission".

l have questions:

a) Why did he assume that the fire engine was going to the place where he wanted to be?

b) If he knew where it was going, had he arranged the fire?

c) Was he just an amateur journalist demonstrating excellent initiative?

d) - Or was he a filmmaker adopting the old silent-era tactic of chasing emergency vehicles and filming whatever they attended, then banging out an improvised script incorporating the footage?

Woman shot in buttocks by own gun during MRI appointment

A woman was shot in the buttocks by her own gun when she brought it to her MRI appointment, according to a report filed with the Food and Drug Administration.

The unnamed 57-year-old woman had concealed the handgun when she entered the exam room on June 28, with the machine’s magnetic force triggering the weapon to fire. A physician examined her at the site, determining that the entry (in her right buttock) and exit wounds were “very small and superficial, only penetrating subcutaneous tissue.” The patient was admitted to the hospital and discharged when it was obvious she had no serious injuries, according to the filing.

The report from the FDA said she answered “no” during a routine screening when asked if she was carrying any weapons.

Considering the recent 'butt-plug incident' with an MRI scan, and now this, don't the patients get told in basic terms how MRI works and METAL is a bad thing to have about your person?

Gondola capsizes due to taking selfies

Link to written report and short video of idiots in diluted sewage.

Gondolier, who can be assumed to know a thing or two about gondolas, instructs passengers to sit down and stop taking selfies as they are making the boat unstable.

Passengers assume they know better. Surprisingly, they don't.

Those tourists should pay the gondolier for lost business.
He'd have to go home and change clothes, and dry off the gondola before picking up more passengers.

China circus charges $2.80 to let children ride tiger for photos

A circus that allowed children to ride on a tiger’s back for photo opportunities, charging 20 yuan (US$2.80) a picture, has sparked heated discussions among online viewers.

In response to public safety concerns, the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Bureau told state broadcaster CCTV the circus had been conducting “unauthorised performances” at Hengli Square in Tiandong county.

Following an investigation, the authority issued a notice demanding the immediate cessation of performances and initiated legal action against the circus operators.

An ABN Amro customer who became a victim of bank helpdesk fraud twice will not be compensated for the final damage of 7,000 euros, the financial complaints institute Kifid has ruled. The customer became a victim of bank helpdesk fraud for the first time on 5 October 2021, in which scammers managed to steal his bank card and withdraw 4,000 euros with it.

On 6 October, the customer informed ABN Amro that he had been scammed, to which the bank sent him an email warning him against being repeated and approached by scammers. On 3 November 2021, the customer fell victim to bank helpdesk fraud again, again giving his bank card to the scammers, who withdrew €7,000 with it. Early last year, ABN Amro decided to compensate the first damage of 4,000 euros. Last October, the bank reported that it would not reimburse the damage of 7,000.

The customer appealed against the bank's decision. He argues that the scams were committed by the same fraudsters. In addition, the customer argues that ABN Amro failed to exercise its duty of care. The bank knew that the possibility existed that the customer would be approached again by the same fraudsters and even warned him about this, according to the customer himself.

The latter also argues that the bank knew it was dealing with a vulnerable elderly customer who proved no match for scammers. In addition, given the customer's lifestyle and age, there was no reason for him to withdraw large sums of cash. According to the customer, ABN Amro should therefore have taken precautions by making it impossible to raise the withdrawal limit.

In the UK the courts have decided that banks who have warned customers that they are being scammed are under no obligation to reimburse them for losses they sustain. Personally I'm sick of hearing people moaning about losing money when they have been warned.

Using paraquat to cure an STD is like curing an ingrown toenail by amputation of the leg below the knee.
A bloody stupid thing to do. Especially a farmer who's meant to know what they are doing with chemicals they use.
Base jumper leaps off a 29 storey building in Thailand, and his parachute fails to open.
Meh.
I've little sympathy for those who die from taking part in 'dangerous sports'. I'm sure the adrenaline rush they get is of great comfort to their grieving relatives.
*sniff* "He died doing what he enjoyed. He went the way he wanted to go."
Tell that to the emergency workers detailed to recover the remains.

It's one thing to indulge in a dangerous hobby, taking all risks into account, but it's another to take part in a 'hobby' which is almost designed to be more hazardous than it might be. Like 'free' climbers who scale skyscrapers; brave/foolhardy but not exactly admirable.

Thai police to charge two over pet lion spotted cruising in Bentley

Officials say there are currently 224 lions in Thailand that are legally owned.

A lion in the passenger seat.... that might work until you spotted, say, a deer or a gazelle. Next thing you know, the lion's taken over the driving seat and it's lining up some roadkill, with the hunting instinct having taken over, and it's telling you "after I hit it, right, you get it in the boot and we can share!"
