Might this game in the Secret Annexe, in fact truly have been Monopoly? from what I remember, the game -- devised by an American in the earlier 1930s -- caught on like wildfire in much of the world during that decade.escargot1 said:Thought this must be a hoax but it appears not. That board game rings a bell, did I see it in a high school textbook? I can almost picture it.
Went to the Anne Frank museum in Amsterdam at the weekend and saw mention of a board game there. It was a present to the teenage boy who was in hiding and was based on a sort of business theme. Like Monopoly.
I'm thinking now, those swastika baubles were probably hung on a xmas tree somewhere while the Frank family and group were already living in their Secret Annexe, afraid to make a sound...
