I watched him a few times on InfoWars and, well he's hard to watch thanks to his ranting and shouting and talking over any guests he might have on. Then all the constant ads for vitamin supplements which, judging by how old he looks clearly don't work.
All the stuff about him just being an actor, by his own lawyer's admission, tends to ruin any credibility he has too.

But banning him is a frightening development. Some hipster think-tank in charge of Twitter decide they don't like someone's persona so just don't allow them a platform? While allowing terrorists and stuff one?

He's openly abused people. Because of him, Sandy Hook parents have been repeatedly harassed and threatened. He's made serious libellous accusations. He spread the Pizzagate story, which nearly resulted in people getting shot. If he can't be bothered sticking to a private company's T&Cs he shouldn't be surprised when they show him the door.

Infowars has rules too - could we go on their forums, accuse Jones of made-up crimes and expect to be allowed to stay in the name of "Free speech"?

But Twitter don't ban terrorists or other people who come out with clearly offensive stuff do they? They've decided they don't like Alex Jones so they've banned him.
I'm quite sure lots of "normal" people would see anyone using this message board in a similar way they do InfoWars...
BTW I am not an expert on conspiracy theories, I do sometimes listen to podcasts or read stuff about them though and Sandy Hook and Pizzagate do seem to have something strange about them. Not defending Jones in any way, just letting you know I am not enough of an expert to discuss the rights or wrongs on that, my knowledge is only in passing.

Jones is either batshit insane.

Or a very clever performance artist.

Genuinely can;t figure out which one.

^ Maybe he's both... clever and a bit insane.?

;)

It makes me wonder about the Twitter ban if other people are just posting his stuff for him.

We all know he's Bill Hicks. Allegedly.

He isn't, of course...and I know you're being tongue in cheek. But they were good friends.

And of course whereas Hicks was a powerful thinker and a genius at his craft, frighteningly so- Alex is neither. Not at all.

"you know, some people believe that they're Napoleon. That's fine. Beliefs are neat. Cherish them, but don't share them like they're the truth." Bill Hicks.

Where did that 'meme' come from that Hicks is Jones..? And why would someone like Hicks be friends with a jerk like Jones..?
o_O

They were friends when young. They're both Texan. They both worked for the same production company. They look vaguely, vaguely similar. They both are outspoken, wild and push boundaries.

But Jones is an idiot and Hicks was, quite genuinely, a genius.

Thanks for the info.....I was never very familiar with Hicks career but did become aware of Jones online many years back.

Nobody should ever be more aware of Jones than Hicks lol!

They also have/had the same manager/agent.
Jones was less of a jerk back then.

Yes...Kevin Booth...managed the same production company, "Sacred Cow Productions".

Jones was savvy enough at least to realise that the more of a jerk he became then the more money he made. I think I've already said on this thread that but despite the gibbering, maniacal idiot he has become, his early work, particularly that undercover investigation into Bohemian Grove was brave and fantastic.

As he presents it. I remember Jon Ronson on also went in and just walked through the door.

Yeah maybe...I'm not overly fussed how either of them got in...my admiration for that work was it's radical uniqueness. In my opinion.

I actually watched the whole Bohemian Grove tape he made where he went to the gate ,was allegedly refused entrance, so they parked outside and walked into the woods to get in and then filmed the 'Rites' that night .
He made it seem like some radical adventure but I bet if he had asked before hand and explained he was doing a piece he might have been let in through the front door also. It seemed like it was contrived to me based on the video I saw....but who knows..?
(I did read Them by Ronson also.....interesting book.)

He's a showman. And an entertainer. Course he's going to "sex it up".

Although, in fairness, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been let in if he'd asked...particularly if he said he'd be filming! Not a chance.

As I said - it makes no odds to me how he, or Ronson, got in. It just reminds me that Jones was pretty interesting...once. Until he turned into an idiot. And maybe an agent of disinformation - very possible.

^ Just curious...but where do you see his political stance ? on the right or left or independent...or is that all just showmanship also...?

^ Oh, I have no idea mate...not paid any attention to him for years...and I don't really see a dichotomy between "left" and "right" anymore to be honest.

Really..? You don't see a difference between right and left in the US.......it can get a bit unclear on some 'political and govt aspects but the personal social/human aspects are hugely different imho.

btw...Based on Google pages Jones is a Trump supporter.

I don't really...it's not a straight line...it's a circle, and the further out you go the closer you get to the "opposing" view.

That's a pretty general remark.....and might only apply to academic interpretations.
You must be a Brit then...because everyone I know here in the US sees a big difference....especially regarding social programs , class struggles, and taxation issues, abortion rights, immigration, Supreme Court choices...etc . I could go on and on.

;)

I've witnessed this circular characteristic multiple times, in the sense that politically / philosophically obsessed acquaintances who've gone the limit in one direction (per the linear interpretation of 'wings') disappear from sight only to re-appear with no loss of rabidness at the other extreme.

I've seen this happen in both directions, though in my experience more have exited stage 'left' and re-appeared stage 'right' than the other way around.

The Nazis were "national socialists" and there haven't been many more fascist systems than the Soviet Union.

So...
