Interesting observation. It's because prick, dick, nob, cock etc are words that mean 'silly' or 'daft', whereas cunt means something like evil and fitlhy. That's how it is.
Because I'm over 50 and diabetic, and that is the standard procedure in medical-world these days.

2.Oh, didn't know that. Are you type 1 or 2?
Well all you people who had side-effects from taking statins should know that it is all in your fluffy little heads you silly billys.

It is backed by a whole range of health organisations so it must be true. Health organisations are never ever sponsored by the drug industry. :BS:

Glad you're doing better now X ..Old_shoe,
..I honestly doubt their claims that statin drugs prevent heart disease and strokes. I doubt their claims on the relationship between cholesterol and heart attacks...
I would disagree.
I had a minor stroke (TIA) back in 2007. Followed by a possible heart attack.
I had a cholesterol count of 7 at the time. And this was deemed to have caused some problem with heart operation. I turned down the option of having a stent fitted to improve blood flow as a close look at the literature shows the chance of death during the fitting operation is only 300:1 . I wouldn't get on a plane with those odds of reaching the other end of the trip safely, let alone have people fiddle around inside my heart.
Anyway, the first statin I was given did give quite severe muscle cramp. It was changed to another and there has been no problem since. My cholesterol is how at 3. And my blood pressure is quite normal.

I think they are a valuable drug I just think a holiday every so often is a good idea.
There is evidence to show that if you have already had a heart attack* they can help prevent you from having another. Apart from that there is little or nothing going on them. And of course no-one wants to take drugs that give horrible side effects if that drug may not even help them, so the current drive to persuade people they are imagining those side effects does look a wee bit suspicious.
*And this may only be true for men as drug companies do not like to test their drugs in women because of "hormones". Furthermore heart attacks are under reported in women. Think you know the symptoms of a heart attack? These are the symptoms for a man.
Edit-sorry for getting my rant on but this subject really outrages me.
There's a lot of truth in what you say.
I think a big con is being perpetrated.
I'm on Lipitor (aka Atorvastatin), but I haven't had gout. I did have puffy feet about 10 years ago (not fully fledged gout), but I found that if I laid flat on the sofa with my legs slightly elevated, the problem went away.
My Dad has gout attacks quite frequently, and he's on Lipitor.
After my husband died and I had a chest infection the doctor sent me for a battery of tests.
He said I had diabetes and high cholesterol-it was 5 -and although he said it was lower than his he put me on Lipitor.
After 2 tablets I ached and couldn't stand up and walk properly.
On looking up the side effects I stopped taking them and went back the next week and haven't taken them since.
Successive doctors insisted I had diabetes till the latest one, a lovely Chinese lady who examined the results I have been having since that original one 10 years ago, said I don't have it at all.
