In 1776 Samuel Thorley committed the horrific murder in Congleton where he dismembered and ate parts of the body.

A Cheshire cannibal said he wanted to try human flesh because he had heard it resembled 'young pig in taste'.

In 1776, Samuel Thorley gruesomely murdered Anne Smith, a ballad singer, in Priesty Fields in Congletonand dismembered her body.


In a letter published in an old newspaper extract seen by CheshireLive, it said Ms Smith's body was discovered floating in a nearby brook in a 'shocking and cruel manner'.

The butchers assistant had cut her tongue out of mouth and severed her head, arms, thighs and legs.

(A Cheshire joke is that as Congleton used to be rather remote, in a harsh winter the inhabitants would kill and eat their own young.

French police fatally shoot man suspected of beheading, eating teen​

French police shot dead a 32-year-old man suspected of decapitating and partially eating a 13-year-old boy — whose head was found in a bucket, a prosecutor said Monday.

Authorities made the grisly discovery Sunday in an apartment in the southern France town of Tarascon that was rented by the man, who had a psychiatric disorder, public prosecutor Laurent Gumbau told Agence France-Presse.

An investigation into the disappearance of a boy from a care home in Marseille, about 60 miles away, led police to the address in Tarascon, Gumbau told AFP.

“The body found may be that of the minor,” he said, adding that strips of flesh had been ripped from a shoulder, sparking suspicions of cannibalism.

The man, who had previous convictions for acts of violence, fled from his apartment by jumping over rooftops, neighbors told the news outlet.

But he was found three hours later and shot dead, the prosecutor said, adding that the suspect did not appear to have been armed at the time of his death and that he had not been formally identified as the killer.

The wurst cases are always in Germany.

A German man suspected of killing another man for sexual gratification and eating pieces of the victim’s body has gone on trial in Berlin.

The 41-year-old teacher is accused of meeting a 43-year-old mechanic on an online dating site a few hours before the killing, German news agency dpa reported. Neither of their names was released for privacy reasons.

Prosecutors said there was no indication that the victim agreed to be killed.

After the killing last September, the accused allegedly chopped up the man’s body in his apartment in the Berlin-Pankow neighbourhood and then spread parts of it around different areas of the city, dpa reported. Police were looking for the missing man for weeks before bones were found in a forest in northern Berlin and the accused was tracked down with the help of sniffer dogs.

The cameraman continues to film as the hitman mocks the fallen sicario by pretending to offer him a taste of his no-longer-beating heart. In the background of the twisted scene, another body is partly visible, as is the shadow of someone hacking away at it.

When the video first surfaced in Mexico’s troubled Zacatecas state last month, it quickly went viral. Dr. Robert J. Bunker, a security analyst who studies Mexico’s cartels, told The Daily Beast that was exactly the point: It was a public display intended as a threat to the Sinaloa outfit.

A Michigan man last Thursday pleaded guilty to mutilation of a body and open murder after killing a college student he met on dating app Grindr and eating parts of the deceased body.

According to MLive, Latunski lured Bacon to his home, stabbed him in the back and took his body parts to his kitchen where he consumed them.

The first night was the worst, Roy Harley recalls of the ten weeks he and other survivors of a plane crash 50 years ago managed to cling to life on an Andean glacier without food or shelter, and very little reason for hope.

Of the plane's 45 occupants, 16 made it home from the 72-day ordeal that became known as the "Miracle of the Andes."

The only way to survive was to eat the flesh of the dead. But for Harley, a retired engineer now aged 70, that was not the worst of the nightmare made famous by the 1993 film "Alive."

After the initial shock of their plane crashing into the Andes mountains on that fateful Friday the 13th of October 1972, Harley and 31 other survivors found themselves in the pitch dark in minus 30 degrees Celsius (-22 Fahrenheit) at an altitude of some 3,500 meters.

Those who could squeezed into what remained of the fuselage between dead bodies and the screams of the wounded.

"That night, I experienced hell," Harley [said].

"At my feet was a boy who was missing a part of his face and... choking on blood.

"I didn't have the courage to reach out to him, to hold his hand, to comfort him. I was afraid. I was very afraid."

By morning, four more were dead, and so started a seemingly relentless torment that would eventually whittle the number of survivors down to 16.

On Day 10, the survivors heard on the plane radio that the search for them had been called off.

"One of the most painful things was... to realize that the world was going on without us," said Paez, who today travels the world as a motivational speaker.

But it was also the jolt the survivors needed to take matters into their own hands and start trying to find a way off the glacier, he recalled.

Another tribulation was having to broach the topic of anthropophagy -- the eating of human flesh...

‘Throuple’ Accused of Torturing, Killing, and Eating Women to Get Off​


A “throuple” in India is accused of murdering, torturing, and later consuming parts of two women police say they slaughtered to satisfy their own deranged sexual cravings.

Muhammad Shafi, a convicted rapist who served time for the sexual assault of a 75-year-old woman; Bhagaval Sing, a Haiku poet and massage parlor owner; and his wife Laila Singh, who helped run the business, stand accused of the human sacrifice, torture, murder, dismemberment and partial consumption of two women in their 50s, according to Kerala Police. They were arraigned on Wednesday.

The trio may have killed others, police fear, but they stand charged with the murders of Padmam and Rosly—identified only by singular names in Indian press outlets. The alarm was reportedly raised by Padmam’s sister, who told police the victim has last been seen in Shafi’s car on Sept. 26.

Shafi is thought to have been the couple’s witch doctor, and all three say he had a sexual relationship with Laila Singh—usually in the presence of her husband.

Shafi is accused of killing Padmam, while Laila Singh is accused of murdering and beheading Rosly. Her husband is accused of chopping off Rosly’s breasts for consumption.

Laila Singh reportedly admitted to police that she had eaten Rosly’s flesh on the promise of financial prosperity, and that her husband had consumed Padmam’s genitals to maintain his youth.

A teen who tried to lure a gay man to his home to murder and eat him has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Chance Seneca, 19, revealed his sick plot was inspired by serial killer cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer.

Seneca kidnapped 18-year-old Holden White in 2020, after meeting him on the dating app Grindr.

He attempted to kill him and was planning on preserving and eating parts of his body.

Seneca proposed sex to White and got him to put on handcuffs as a “dark joke.”

"To make sure that H.W. was dead, Seneca hit H.W. in the back of the head with a hammer and stabbed him in the neck with an ice pick," court documents explain.

"Seneca also used a Bowie knife to slit H.W.'s wrist."

While White survived the attack, his injuries were severe.

Seneca revealed to the police that he viewed Grindr as his “hunting ground” and that he had been inspired by the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, spending months planning out his attack.

That is horrific. Especially the article that tells it from the victim's view.

Thank goodness the sick ***** (I actually have no words for him) called the police, otherwise the person wouldn't have survived. And thank goodness he was caught before he could attempt to perfect his abductions and assaults.

Based on marks on an ancient bone, it seems someone got hungry enough to chow down on some hominin leg, some 1.45 million years ago.

It's not an unknown behavior, over the years. But the tibia, marked with cuts, and belonging to a mystery human relative who used to live in what is now Kenya, may represent the oldest example we've seen yet of hominin-on-hominin butchery.

A team led by paleoanthropologist Briana Pobiner of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History has performed a detailed, 3D analysis of the cuts, and performed experiments on bone to see what made them.

Their findings show that the marks were made by stone tools, in the manner of stripping the flesh in preparation for eating.

"The information we have tells us that hominins were likely eating other hominins at least 1.45 million years ago," Pobiner says.

"There are numerous other examples of species from the human evolutionary tree consuming each other for nutrition, but this fossil suggests that our species' relatives were eating each other to survive further into the past than we recognized."

Although a study published last year found that humans and our relatives and ancestors occupied a pretty primo position on the food chain over the last couple million years, hominins do, occasionally, end up as brunch for something with pointier teeth.

Not as often as you might suppose, though, so Pobiner undertook a study of ancient fossilized hominin bones looking for signs of carnivory.

An adventurer journeyed to one of the most remote jungles on Earth to unearth the terrifying cannibal tribe.

They wear little or no clothing, and hunt using bows and arrows.

Until 1974, when anthropologists ventured into the Indonesian provinces of South Papua and Highland Papua, the Korowai didn’t know there were any other people on Earth.

“I learned that the Korowai don't eat humans for enjoyment or nutritional value,” he explained. “It's simply a form of punishment.”

“You steal something, you get burned over a fire and eaten.”

The Korowai also believe that an evil demon called a khakua can possess a human being and “eat” them from the inside, turning them into a witch.

To them, it’s just common sense that someone who is possessed should also be killed and eaten.

The taste of human meat has been compared to that of wild boar or emu. Tribespeople eat every part of the body except the hair, nails, and the penis.

Cannibal prison has lags forced to eat each other to survive

A barbaric prison in Africa is hell on Earth with people able to smell the stench of rotting flesh from dead corpses inside its walls as far as a mile away.

Inmates of the Rwanda prison Gitarama, one of the world's deadliest, are forced to eat the rotting corpses of other inmates in order to survive.

The unimaginable jail on the outskirts of Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, was built in 1960 as housing for British workers. It was later converted into a jail designed to hold around 400 prisoners at the time.

The troubling conditions mean inmates are often left with no choice but to stand due to a lack of space, with as many as 8,000 trapped inside despite the prison's capacity currently being somewhere between 1,300 and 3,000.

More than 1,000 men are reported to have died in Gitarama in 1995 alone. Even today, the stink of faeces and rotting flesh is said to be detectable up to a mile away.

Reports state that multiple prisoners a day can die in the Gitarama jail due to the foul conditions. It's also been reported there is no sewer system meaning convicts must trawl barefoot through their own faeces or sleep soaked in sewage.
