Cats Stolen To Make Gloves / For The Fur Trade?

I have never forgotten the sight of a cat thrown into boiling water
alive at a specialist Chinese cat restaurant. It was featured on a
UK documentary some years ago, probably for Channel Four.

There are some horrid things online about the dogs beaten to death
for tenderising purposes in Korea.

I don't think we can be entirely proud about Western "painless"
slaughter but racists tend to find a more direct way to express their
opinions.

I don't care if it's "racist" or not, whoever would treat animals like this is a sick bastard. no matter whether the perpetrator is white, black, yellow or green!

In Strange Cults and Secret Societies of Modern London (1934), Elliott O'Donnell relates rumours of cat-snatchers who skinned the animals alive and sold the skins to "foreign Jewish fur merchants".

BTW - stories of ethnic takeaways using dodgy ingredients are pretty racist to my mind. Do we have to keep repeating them?

Agreed, Jews became Pakistanis (anyone black), who became Chinese (anyone with different eyes), who become Kosovans (anyone eastern European...

That said, if you come from a country where cats and dogs actually are eaten perhaps the tripe sticks a little firmer when thrown.

Could be a rabbit skin one. you get white and ginger bunnies and they have fur very like a cats.

To my horror my mother once purchased one of those rabbit-fur fake 'ship's cats'. Bloody foul little thing. The moment she passes on it's going on the fire.

it could have been rabbit fur, however, there does seem to be a large amount of stray cats in Greece, still remains a possibility!

A few yesrs ago we had a cat that was black with a white patch on his chest. he was a 'people' cat and would make friends even with strangers. One day, he disappeared, the last we saw of him was running after some school girls who had been playing with him.
Days turned to months and we got another cat assuming that he had found a new home.

About two years after he disappeared, I was glancing through the local newspaper, and saw a story about a mentally unstable woman, who lived in the local area, but also had a council flat in another area. She used the flat to keep her cats, hundreds of them, all black with white patches on their chests. The newspaper story was about the flats neighbours complaining about the smell and noise and the council, breaking in to find all these cats, which now needed new homes or would be put down.

The sad thing was, we now had a new cat, who wouldn't take kindly to an adult cat coming into the house and even if one of those cats was our original cat, we wouldn't be able to recognise it as all the cats in the flat looked alike, and it probably wouldn't recognise us, given the time and truama.

So we suspect that we know what happened to our cat, which was some kind of closure.
