Does Anyone Know Anything About Elves?

Or it tells you that he was a linguist.

And a writer of fiction. As you have already pointed out. The idea that something an artist produces out of their imagination must be "real" is a very odd one indeed.

However, I have no doubt that people have had encounters with things they've called "elves".

This is my favourite type of djinn:

Sorry, I had to stop drinking. I was a Johnny Walker man. You British have a world empire. Which give you access to many great cultures around the world. You guys know something you are not telling.

Don't be deceived the Queen rules here in America. Proof, The Falklands War. We violated our own Monroe Doctrine to help you defeat a fellow American State.

Sadly "I want to get drunk" is the only wish this djinn fulfills.

Yes the word Genie, as in the lamp, comes from the word djinn. Ever notice how genies have pointy ears like elves?

I notice when I walk down the street that the crows always mock me but the pigeons are cooperative, what's up with that?

There is nothing up with that, it's entirely normal behaviour. Crows have a notoriously cruel tongue whereas pigeons will help carry your shopping down the road with you.

Finally, someone in the same realm. My eye is always on the sparrows. They speak Spanish over here.

CHORUS:
While the poor people sleepin'
With the shade on the light
While the poor people sleepin'
All the stars come out at night
After closing time
At the Guernsey Fair
I detect the El Supremo
From the room at the top of the stairs
Well I've been around the world
And I've been in the Washington Zoo
And in all my travels
As the facts unravel
I've found this to be true

CHORUS

They got the house on the corner
With the rug inside
They got the booze they need
All that money can buy
They got the shapely bods
They got the Steely Dan T-shirt
And for the coup-de-gras
They're outrageous

CHORUS

Show biz kids making movies
Of themselves you know they
Don't give a fuck about anybody else

Not sure elves do, til Victorian times. No mention of it in the older references, IIRC.

Although lots of mythical creatures seem to recur in different cultures, independently of eachother. Think how many (unrelated) cultures had 'dragons'. I guess there are cultural leitmotifs that just keep popping back up. A djinn doesn't seem to have much in common with elves, though, unless I'm missing something.

"The Djinn Connection" is the book I read that started me wondering.

Have you ever hassled a crow? Apparently if you have, that crow will then hassle you back, and other crows in the neighbourhood will then pick up on it and the behaviour will spread throughout the flock. There was an interesting experiment around this involving Dick Cheney masks carried out by the University of Washington.

Pigeons, on the other hand, just aren't very bright. Hassle them all you like.

I have 2 possible theories to this strangeness, both are things I have long thought to be possible and to the best of my knowledge, were not born of any drug state... though I undoubtedly laminated over these theories while under the influence at one point or another. . And I apologize as it may be a bit out there (right forum for it really though).

Basically, if you believe in something like the multiverse theory then there are an infinite amount of possibilities for such things as Djinn/Elves and whatever else you like to exist out there somewhere.
And some of these parallel dimensions could be very closely overlapped with our own causing occasional windows/portals between these worlds when lay lines or some other cosmic thing lines up just so and mars is in the forth house etc.. etc.. You were just in the right place and the right time (and in the right frame of mind) to perceive it.

The other theory... which might come off as more drug fuelled, though it is not. Is that, we as humans can perceive the world around us in 3 dimensions. When we know that there is more likely than not much more to it than just what we can see/touch/smell/etc...
We could even be the dream of some higher multi-dimensional being for all I know.
But the theory I have is that, we as humans, have the ability to create (or play god if you like) 2 dimensional world/entities. And with enough thought/meditation we can actually bring these realities into well, reality.
So the possibility is, that by the very fact that there are millions of people reading and now watching Tolkiens world that he created, we have in fact created a splinter reality where these creatures can exist.

I can't prove either of these theories. But in fact I think in our current evolutionary state there is likely no way we could even if we wanted to.

Or alternatively... you just had a reel good acid trip, followed years later by a flashback. Who knows.

Thanks, since crows and Ravens are probably more intelligent than we are and are known to mock human folly as well and known to hang out with the likes of Odin, I was rather upset that they would be mocking me. What did I do wrong? Then, yesterday I was notified that they were not mocking me but the people who harass me as I walk down the street. Let's face it, I do look suspect. So I want to make a public apology to my swarthy sisters the crows even though they admitted that at first they did not like me. I like pigeons because they are simple and I believe in simplification

I'm glad that you have made your peace with the Crows and ravens Elsupremo.... I find that it's the squirrels you need to watch out for! Evil little blighters.

You are spot on. Now you're talking. Do we create our own reality? Why would the God of the Isrealites forbid the making of graven images? Could it be that we give these things life. Something to annoy a jealous creator. Reminds me of a dream I had where my life was in the pages of a comic book being looked at and read by people who looked like they were drawn, while I was in comic book as a three dimensional character as we are in real life. Now the question is do they exist because we drew them and in doing so created another dimension or did they draw us as 3D creatures

Well, those are all good questions. The idea of the bible god always did sound a bit like a higher being that knew we might one day evolve to be a powerful, or collectively more powerful then them and they could not have that. So through religion and manipulation of people in power, has coxed us little by little away from the spiritual understanding side of reality and more into the "ohh, look at this shiny" material side of reality.

Now don't get me wrong. I think the universe we inhabit is a vast, wondrous place that holds things we could never likely understand given many lifetimes to try wrap our heads around it. And I love what and where science and technology has taken us in a very short period of time.
And there is even the possibility that all "god/Allah/Buddah" is, is some vastly technologically advanced race that we don't understand and so portray them as these deities.

Saying that though think that most religions are a con and if indeed there really was some sort of higher being who created us, that they would want us to succeed in joining them in the "heavenly chorus" out there in the universe. By giving us some very basic tools and understanding they would want us to figure it all out for ourselves.
As any parent will attest, there is no greater pride and joy then watching your child work things out on their own.

But I digress. Yes, I think there is a very real possibility that we make our own reality. Not like we can "materialize" something out of nothing, but when we are happy and in a good mood the world seems a happier place where good things keep on happening to us "randomly", compared to someone who might, lets say, have just gotten dumped or lost their job who, only notices the bad things happening to us. And, if asked, would say the world is a cold, dark place filled with hate.

But even further into that. Like I say, I think that there is the very real possibility that we create 2 dimensional characters/realities etc.. thought force of thought, or indeed mediation.
Where, with movies/comics having become a lot more prevalent over the last few decades, it has allowed people to visualize the likes of Elves and Djinn more easily, which has then in turn, allowed those realities to cross over into our own?
or indeed, with the rise of commercialism and these idea's/thoughts being able to reach a wider audience, it has allowed such things to temporarily manifest in this dimension due to the large amount of people focusing on a single idea/thought.

I had this waking daydream many many years ago (sober mind you). That basically put into my head this thought that all we(the soul if you will) are is energy, which, when we die, goes back to the great universal collective (or some great big energy mass somewhere that we are unable to detect, or some sort of Nirvana if you prefer), and the whole purpose of this life and world, is to learn and to grow and evolve. Until one day when we would hopefully ascend to a higher plane of existence.
It tapped into a lot of things I felt strongly about, such as re-incarnation. And when I woke, I felt this elation that I had been given a real truth.

If this perception was true... then there is no reason that elves and djinn could not exist, if not in this reality, in a parallel one.
Perhaps even they are the more evolved states of us and can alter their perception of appearance to their tastes? Who's to say a higher being wouldn't like Tolkien and fancied a bit of cosplay?

Just further though to something you said back in the original posts. You said the voices said they ruled the world and asked you if you really wanted to know about them... And you said you told them yes.... was anything more ever heard from those voices?

Yeah, with their bushy tails and little twitchy noses. B'stards.

Yes that very night the voices instructed me that they would lead me to them that very night. They told me to leave the house head downtown over the Detroit- Superior Bridge. As I got to the middle of the bridge which spans the Cuyahoga River, a strong gust of wind out of nowhere, it was calm autumn night, blew me to the railing. They spoke, we could have blown you off the bridge had we chosen to, we even control the weather. Do you still want to know who we are? Terrified, I wanted to say no, then the terror of living a life in ignorance of true reality overwhelmed me, I said yes. They then said continue across the bridge, head over to Euclid Ave and proceed up the street. I did. Then while crossing an intersection on Euclid, my head started spinning, the LSD, and all of a sudden as I was trying to remain upright, a number of cars that I didn't see coming sped by me very closely front and back as I was exactly at the median. They spoke, this time with greater hostility than before. We could run you down in the street like the dog that you are. Do you still want to know who we are? Cars were still speeding by front and back as I struggled to keep my balance. I shouted yes and almost immediately the traffic stopped. Keep walking up Euclid they said. As I proceeded a couple more blocks a fire truck passed on the street and parked about a block from where I was. Enter the elves, four or five really old men with fire men's hats on, exited the truck and lined up along the storefront on the street. As I approached them I noticed that these really old men had elf ears, they beheld me with the most hateful looks I had ever seen and began verbally assaulting me with the most fowl curses I had ever heard. Things like "You are not man enough to handle the truth, we are going to "F" you and make you our bitch. That was one of the least vulgar things they said. I just looked at them and preceded up Euclid. Then the voices spoke again. "We are in the Masonic Temple" (To be continued)

Yeah, with their bushy tails and little twitchy noses. B'stards.
I kind of like squirrels, but I am suspicious of chipmunks. Mainly because Hollywood is fond of chipmunks. Now Hollywood , along with our other institutions of higher learning cannot be trusted.

Can you give us any examples of Hollywood's fondness of chipmunks?
