Ms. Pinkle,

Where did you get my prison photo? I'd kindly thank you not to broadcast such matters.

On TV recently I heard that FBI stands for 'Famous But Incompetent'.

Off topic a bit, I know, but is it true that the Bonsai Kitten website was investigated by the FBI? Or is that another UL?

If it is an UL, it's one they promote and spread themselves. There was a reference to it on the site at one point.

Incidentally, I'm sat here at work, being a secondary school teacher of sorts, not doing anything I ought to be (such as corrupting the young - ha, ha...) and have just discovered that if I try to access bonsai kitten on the school computers, my access is denied by some kind of safety filter (the sort they install to stop the kids looking at scat porn in their IT lessons). What exactly are the criteria for such filters - given that I can quite happily access this site?

The only known criterion for content filters is that they can be sold to schools. I have never encountered a class where determined youths could not access pornography. The only solution in some schools was to disconnect the whole classroom from the Internet. If the school is lucky enough to have a full time IT support worker or department then passwords for Internet access need to be changed at hourly intervals. Then "all" the teacher needs to do is limit the flow of this information via visitors to the classroom and text messages.

Of course there are ways to monitor any transgressions but the game was further complicated by the art of swapping personal user-passwords to frustrate attempts to blame any individual.

Funniest content filter story I heard was of some whizzy piece of kit which blocked images with a suspicious percentage of flesh tones. It proved highly effective at preventing kids accessing The Pink Panther while allowing them to browse at leisure on Asian Lesbian Babes!

The post is over twenty years old. God knows what it contained which is now thought unacceptable.

For a long time, we have been unable to edit our own deplorable thoughts, after a very short interval.

Now, I wonder how much else has been silently changed?

It may have been done with the best intentions but it is wrong.

I've had it a couple of times, but in all fairness it was probably deserved in my case(s).
