Owner of world’s biggest fossilized poop collection opens museum

/ Poozeum

https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/03/science/fossilized-poop-museum-intl-scli-scn/index.html

What should you do when you have the world’s largest collection of fossilized poop? Open a Poozeum, of course.

At least, that’s what George Frandsen has dubbed his newly-opened museum in Williams, Arizona, which offers visitors free access to the approximately 8,000 pieces that make up his coprolite collection, better known as fossilized poop.

Poozeum. It's bound to get some shit reviews (but I wish I'd thought of it first).

"Woman swallowed by 16ft shark and no-one noticed"

Another non standard incident..

Poor lady!! I dread to think what was going through her head when she realised what happened. I know this has happened to other people before and they actually survived when the beast spat them back out, shaken to the core but alive. Sadly this didn't happen this time.

That story is from 2014. It was recirculated because of this "The harrowing story from 2014 was retold in a video by FIERCE and posted to YouTube earlier this week, gaining over 14,000 views in just 11 hours and attracting scores of comments." Tabloids are trash; based on clickbait. I'm sure the family didn't appreciate this story making the news again for others' gain. No one noticed?! Not true.
Here from the Sydney Morning Herald.

Rumours that sperm counts are falling ‘is a load of balls’

/they know exactly what they did there

‐------------------
There is no evidence to suggest sperm counts are declining – despite people believing otherwise.
After analysing data from the world’s largest sperm bank in Denmark, researchers found the average sperm concentration – the number of sperms per millilitre of semen – did not change between 2017 and 2022.
However, the team said they did see a fall in high quality ‘swimming’ sperm numbers starting around the year 2020, when lockdowns had an impact on men’s diet and physical activity.

First “official” Loch Ness Monster Sighting Report of 2024
The Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register has published its first “official” sighting report of 2024.

Nessie—as the monster is affectionately known—was reportedly seen on April 4th by Parry Malm and Shannon Wiseman, a Canadian couple living in London, who were visiting Loch Ness with their children.

The family was near Urqhart Castle, a purported hotspot of Nessie activity, when they spotted something unusual in the water.

"We just started watching it more and more, and we could see its head craning above water," Malm told The Canadian Press. "And then it was swimming against the current towards the castle, slowly but surely, like very fastidiously going over the waves (and) coming closer and closer. And then it submerged and disappeared."

Thinking quickly, they took a picture of what they were seeing and ultimately decided to submit it to the Register.

Earlier this month, the Loch Ness Centre shared the results of their latest search for Nessie in Scotland’s Loch Ness—an event they called The Quest Weekend 2024—claiming to have captured new evidence of something unusual in the loch.

This is the second such event held in consecutive years.

Last year’s investigation, the largest surface watch of Loch Ness since the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau ended its surface watch in 1972, was held from August 26th to the 27th and included over a hundred volunteers.

Similarly, The Quest Weekend 2024, spanning May 31st to June 1st, recruited dozens of individuals to watch for the monster, stationed at 14 observation points around Loch Ness.

These volunteers were once again led by Alan McKenna of independent volunteer research organization Loch Ness Exploration, who last year was instrumental in coordinating the volunteer effort.

In-person investigative efforts were reportedly supplemented with livestreaming webcams to allow those at home to participate in the hunt.

Interest in the event was widespread with participants coming from all over the world to join in the search, including Ashley Range who travelled all the way from Washington State.

The ‘bottom whisperer’ will see you now. Back there.

"Evan Goldstein can make it tighter. Or looser. Or paler or smoother, or less blemished. He aims to address your pain and ease your shame. And now he has written what he calls an “anal bible”: a book titled “Butt Seriously,” a how-to guide for “engaging anally.” "

An anal bible? That really would be holey scripture.

San Diego’s Yoga Crackdown Leaves Yogis Bent Out of Shape

/Authorities said "get out", but yoga teachers responded "namaste here".

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ar-BB1ojA3d

San Diego has turned yoga on its head—recasting instructors into outlaws, park rangers into yoga police and pushing the practice from serenity into war.

Park rangers arrived unannounced at Sunset Cliffs Natural Park on a recent day to keep instructors and students from taking their familiar pose atop the bluffs overlooking the Pacific.

Naturally, yoga enthusiasts are bent out of shape, the good vibes disrupted by the threat of tickets and fines.

So did it happen? The article is June 22. I'm going to assume that Uri was not surprised.:)

Just another attempt by Uri to stay in the news. Nothing to see here...

Took me a while to figure that out. Here, it's 911.
This is where good old British ingenuity comes into play.

By making it 999, it took a lot longer (with the old style phones) to get through, as you had longer to wait for the dial to return to the starting position, thereby wasting valuable time in an emergency (for eg while you were being murdered).

(To be fair, we let ourselves down really, as we could have had it as 000 and consequently wasted even more time).

We never had the single emergency number until we had touch tone phones. I think it came in in the 90s

We don’t need to waste our time, they do it for us.
I phoned 111 at 21.20 Monday night after becoming unwell at home and was promised a call back in an hour. I finally got the call exactly 12 hours later at 09.20 Tuesday.

As a kid I was taught that 999 was chosen as the emergency number because it was the easiest to dial by touch in thick smoke.

Surely the same would apply to 111?

I thought 999 was the number chosen because it was less likely to be dialled by accident. I could be wrong of course.
