I had a link in Facebook post today advising that the UK government is about to start trials for sunlight dimming technology. I am not keen to click on the link, but has anyone else had anything similar or is this a real thing?

No, but the first I heard about was via a petition on Change.Org, which read like some wild conspiracy theory until I found this thread :oops:

The UK government has recently approved £50 million in funding through the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) for outdoor experiments aimed at dimming the sun to combat global warming. These experiments involve injecting aerosolized particles into the stratosphere and brightening clouds to reflect sunlight away from Earth.

We, the undersigned, call for an immediate halt to all solar geo-engineering experiments in the United Kingdom — including Stratospheric Aerosol Injection (SAI) and Marine Cloud Brightening (MCB).

These experiments:

- Violate our right to natural light
- Ignore centuries of ecological wisdom
- Reduce complex climate issues to a single, dangerous quick fix
- Risk causing unforeseen global consequences — from failed harvests to hormonal disruption, from ecological imbalance to spiritual disconnection.

We are asking for one simple thing: stop experimenting with the atmosphere. The risks are too great. The public has a right to know. And nature is not a lab.

There's a militia group in the US called Veterans on Patrol which is advocating for attacks on weather radar services because - of course - these are apparently actually part of a weather weapon system.

I saw some footage yesterday where a very patient and reasonable lawman is trying to talk some sense into the militia's founder. But the guy sounds paranoid, and somewhat messianic.

This video is from the tail end of last year - but the chatter seems to have ramped up considerably the last few weeks, and warnings are going out to weather service staff in regard to safety at isolated sites.

I wouldn't be surprised if something kicks off very soon.
