Modern Icelandic Elves!

You would think a folk as educated as the Icelanders would know better.

You don't want to let the elves hear you say that.

People believe a lot of weird stuff. The way everyone lives their lives involves unquestioningly accepting all sorts of stuff that, in fact, education has taught you to believe. You only have to look in the papers.

(personally I think we could do with more people that believe in elves. we might treat our environment a bit better)

Here's my photo from a few years' back of the Elfstone outside the hotel Natura in Reykjavik, where we've stayed a couple of times.
When the hotel was first built, any attempt to move one particularly stubborn rock apparently resulted in misfortune. A shaman declared it to be the dwelling place of elves. So the builders had a monolith inscribed to notify passers by and hotel guests to be respectful of the "hidden folk" in the vicinity. I remembered to greet them before taking the photo.
