What at is the Universe expanding into ?
Well I do believe I might have raised the very question, some time ago.

Did pursue same and following several, detailed, explanations, decided I was in truth, none the wiser.

Don't really see the problem here..

Could do with one or more companion universes, seeing as we're already done making sense of this one...

So... what, hypothetically, if someone is standing right at the edge of our expanding universe and fires an arrow into the currently unoccupied void ahead?

Will it bounce straight back?

If not, where's it going then?

The Universe will be forced to expand even further.

Into what though...?

Nothing previously exists there to expand into...

Conversely, should there be an existing medium which permits such expansion, what is it and how could it possibly already exist, as it surely must, before the genesis of our universe?

Where is the beginning and where is the end? We can never know the answer to this question.

If the Universe Is Expanding, What Is It Expanding Into?

Sometimes, it's the simplest questions that have the most complicated answers. What's the speed of dark? What happened before the Big Bang? And if the universe is expanding, what is it expanding into? The answer to that last question has a short answer and a long answer — but trust us when we say you're going to want the long answer.

Here's the short answer: That question doesn't make sense. The universe is everything, so it isn't expanding into anything. It's just expanding. All of the galaxies in the universe are moving away from each other, and every region of space is being stretched, but there's no center they're expanding from and no outer edge to expand into anything else.

But that doesn't mean that the universe is infinite. That brings us to the long answer. To understand how something could be finite but have no edge, think of the fabric of the universe as the surface of a balloon. As the balloon inflates, the surface stretches and every point on that surface moves away from every other point, but a tiny being on the surface of that balloon could walk forever and never run into the edge of its balloon universe. There's no edge, yet that balloon universe has a finite volume.

But the balloon is expanding into our atmosphere, so that argument is false.

Quoting from the synopsis:

"To understand how something could be finite but have no edge, think of the fabric of the universe as the surface of a balloon. As the balloon inflates, the surface stretches and every point on that surface moves away from every other point...".

"There's no edge, yet that balloon universe has a finite volume".

If we blow up a balloon, it expands because there is an existing medium for it to do this.

Here is another thing to consider.

The Big Bang was supposed to be an explosion (a very big one) from a point -source.

But if you inquire in which direction the centre of the Universe if you will be told 'there is no centre'.

But if there is no centre, how can that be when all forces from a point source explosion expand in all directions ?

We, and everything else , have to be on some radial point away from the point of the explosion.

Or the explanation is that before the BB there was a seething sea of squiggly things that both were and were not at the same time. This is the nothing that everything that is something is made out of. Yes Auntie that includes us.

There are times I am relieved I do not drink; the temptation would be too much.

Right... this is just taking the absolute... proverbial...

Do you, likewise, really not need this right now?

Isn't your life not already complicated quite sufficiently?

Is it generating conspiracy suspicions, that someone is taking advantage of global news coverage re COVID-19 and trying to, 'sneak this under the radar'?

In fact, could this paradigm adaptation be why COVID-19 was manufactured as a cover to distract attention?

At this pivotal moment in our consciousness... you must decide for yourself...

We may have spotted a parallel universe going backwards in time

New Scientist: 8 April, 2020

Strange particles observed by an experiment in Antarctica could be evidence of an alternative reality where everything is upside down.

Do you think there’s a universe where everyone is just getting on with their life like normal (shame it’s not ours)?

Yep, we are in the darkest timeline.
I don't think so. Most of us here are tapping away in a house with heating, access to water, food.

We are not scurrying through the ruins of society following a nuclear war just yet.

The New Scientist article seems to have spawned a runaway series of misinterpreted and twisted derivatives of this story and its implications.

This article attempts to explain what's what and how things got so out of control. (Full article accessible at the link.)
Here's The Real Truth Behind That Viral 'NASA Finds Parallel Universe' Story

Every time tabloids and social media dramatically mishandle a science news story, the urge to unplug the internet and plug it back in again is excruciatingly strong.

If you've heard the recent claim that NASA detected a parallel universe (!) in Antarctica (!) where time runs backwards (!!), we're glad you've now clicked on this article. Strap yourselves in for the truth.

"It seems that for this tabloid science story, some speculative theoretical physics which might have had distant roots in plausibility was amplified for sensational reasons," University of Hawai'i at Mānoa experimental particle physicist Peter Gorham told ScienceAlert.

The egregious 'parallel universe detected' nonsense started out innocently enough.

The respectable New Scientist magazine published a (pay-walled) feature on April 8, discussing some anomalous results coming from neutrino detection experiments in Antarctica, and what these could mean for a speculative cosmological model that posits there's an antimatter universe extending backwards from the BigBang.

Then some online outlets, uh, 'borrowed' this report, the whole thing snowballed, and here we are. ...

Phaugh.
If there was a mirror universe travelling backwards in time from The Big Bang, it would be travelling away from us, and it would be about 27 billion years away from us by now. We'd never see it or be affected by it. One less thing to worry about.

Philp K Dick wrote a novel called "Counter clock world" it was a detective story set in a world where the "pendulum of time" has reached the apex of it's swing and is now on the return causing time to run backwards.

It's a reasonable enough read

Here's The Real Truth Behind That Viral 'NASA Finds Parallel Universe' Story
Oops ... Maybe not ... It turns out that other physicists and geologists published a paper about a month ago claiming to demonstrate the mystery particle signals that started all this fracas were in fact bogus - spurious hits caused by anomalies in the Antarctic ice.
Strange ice formations may have tricked physicists into seeing mysterious particles that weren't there

What if one of the strangest, most unsettling findings in particle physics turned out to be an illusion?

Since March 2016, two mysterious signals from Antarctica have baffled researchers. Twice now, a high-energy particle has seemed to burst straight up out of the ice, tripping detectors on a balloon-borne experiment floating overhead. It's as if the particles had passed through the entire Earth unscathed. But that should be all but impossible: None of the known particles, which collectively are described in a physics model known as the Standard Model, can make that trip at high-energy levels. ...

Physicists termed the two detections the "ANITA anomaly," after NASA's Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA), the airborne detector that picked up the signals. They compared ANITA's findings to results from IceCube — a much larger neutrino observatory in Antarctica — and found more support for the notion that they had found something no one had seen before. And they took seriously the idea that ANITA might have stumbled onto something beyond the Standard Model.

Now, in a new paper published April 24 in the journal Annals of Glaciology, a joint team of physicists and glaciologists argue that the ANITA anomaly likely isn't evidence for new physics. Instead, it may simply be a trick of the ice. Complex, hidden structures in the white expanse might have reflected radio waves in unexpected ways, fooling ANITA's radio receivers into registering the particle as if it were coming from inside Earth. ...
