The Cotherstone Bridge Ghost

A classic case from the BUFORA archives about a couple who rented a County Durham cottage and experienced some ghostly and poltergeist-type activity:

"As they approached a small footbridge Tom saw a figure cross over the bridge, which
disappeared totally before his eyes. Tom stepped onto the bridge with Melanie calling
to him to 'come back'. As he stepped onto the bridge he felt as though he was taking a
step down and then another step into nothing as though his foot had gone through the
ground"

There is a huge amount more to this case, including the 'oz factor' and ghostly companions and it all took place close to where motorcyclists and motorists have reported been chased by balls-of light-type UFOs

Having had a look at Google maps there is a place called Mayhew's Meadows close to which is a rather old and ornate footbridge across the river there:

This would fit the location.

The Google Maps photos are a gruesome collection. Filling stations, Asda, Morpeth Bus Station.

This is my.local area (you're welcome any time, Scarg!). I wasn't aware of any spookiness about Cotherstone. Lartington Hall in Lartington is a bit spooky though!
