Philip Mantle has unearthed a rather intrigiung UFO shot taken in the Russian city of Voronezh shortly after the (in)famous alleged encounters there:

And if you are not familiar with this awkward, rather embarrasing, but strong CE4 case then here's a one-stop summary:
https://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/column.php?id=308198

I also understand that there was a bit of a UFO sighting flap in the same city in 2006: I have a hard copy article in Russian on the matter.

A really odd looking photo...to me it looks faked/photoshop....though I know very little about faking photos.
At any rate I recall Dr Vallee doing an onsite investigation of the event shortly after it happened....I can't recall his take on it . I might look through my ufo books to see what he wrote about it back in the past.

Any chance you could scan it and PM it to me? (The Google Drive app on Android has a good inbuilt scanner.)

Thanks but I've stashed it away somewhere and don't have easy access to a scanner at the moment. It appeard in the weekly news rag `Anomalnie Novosti` about a year ago. You can access the site on www.anomaliy.ru

Dr Vallee talks about his thoughts on the Voronezh case as well as related ufo aspects.

An interesting interview with Dr Vallee in 1991 (about half way through he gives his ideas on what he thinks the phenom might be.)....the Russian case is only mentioned in passing.

Well I'm one up on Vallee then: I've been to Voronezh! It's a rather dull place, and they're so NOT cashing in on the UFO aspect - I couldn't find anything about it, and the few people I spoke to (admittedly of the younger generation) confessed complete ignorance of it.

Apparently they weren't allowed to go to that town when he went to Russia..not sure why but the witnesses came to him.
So what were you doing in such an out of the way place...?

I currently live in Moscow and it was just a bit of an outing during a winter break - and, yes, a spot of UFOtourism.

Besides, Voronezh is not in any sense `out of the way`: it is a thriving industrial city well served by rail links to Moscow (think...Wolverhampton perhaps - if you're a fellow Brit). I find it hard to believe that Vallee and his posse were `not allo
wed` there in 89/90!

Well, unless you're doubting the photos provenance, it was unlikely to have been photoshoped - as it was taken in November 1989!

In his interviews about Voronezh he said they were not allowed to go there...it was not very long after the event and apparently the Russian govt were being uncooperative.
Regarding that photo...I know nothing about it's authenticity but somehow it looks faked to me.
What do we know about the truth of the photo..?

This picture, referenced from the Chinese article linked below, makes some interesting claims- but they are little more than that.

There is some mention of the interesting faint curved line to the left of the trilobe image: if that is an emulsion retouch hoax, then as a concentric chord/circumferum could be considered to be an indication of such a 2D addendum....unless it is considered to be supportive evidence for the physical presence of a luminescent object (ie some type of atmospheric refractive effect, light halo-ing within a precipitative sky).

My gut feeling is that its a hoax. But I take a massive amount of convincing about anything

EDIT
I wonder if the image could actually be an internally-refracted image of a multi-petal aperture of the camera itself? I vaguely remember having seen a similar effect with someone using (oddly enough) a faulty Russian TLR camera (twin lens reflex). That created an unwanted seagull shape in every picture....
