Strange Crimes

"The man hired used a machete to hack to death Moench’s parents & the family poodle. Moench later explained his actions saying he was upset his parents bought him a used car for his 18th birthday instead of the Ferrari he’d always wanted."

This is an article about computer security :)

Tough on the cows of crime.

Police in Uzbekistan have apprehended two men for stealing livestock after catching them red-handed with a calf in the back of an expensive car.

Officers in Uzbekistan's Bukhara region were investigating a report from villagers who had lost a cow and a sheep, and managed to track down two suspects, the UzNews website says.

In order to avoid suspicion, they had been transporting stolen sheep and cattle - even bulls - in a Malibu Chevrolet owned by one of the men, regional police said.

The American brand is a popular one in Uzbekistan where parent company General Motors have a factory - so much so that in 2013, the chance to put a down payment on a car sparked a small stampede.

PC Rebecca Barnett sacked for biting woman's nose

A police officer has been sacked for biting a woman on the nose.

PC Rebecca Barnett pleaded guilty in February to causing grievous bodily harm at Easington Football Club in Banbury.

Thames Valley Police said while off duty she argued with the woman at the venue on 10 June last year.

She grabbed and bit the 29-year-old victim on the nose, causing an injury which required surgery and left permanent scarring, the force said.

Saw this headline in the Times today: 'Mother used Taser to get son out of bed'.

The story's about as you'd expect.

One of the strangest bank-robberies was documented by Lumet's 1975 film, Dog Day Afternoon, which I revisited tonight.

It now seems prescient of the iPhone age, as the incompetent gang disintegrate in the glare of publicity and conflicted private lives.

This 1972 article, contemporary with the robbery, written by someone close to the action, suggests that there was another layer to the tale.

Edit 15.04.2018. Just picked up the 2 disc Special Edition version of the DVD. Lots of Extras and a Commentary. I wonder how far they go. . . :pipe:

A bath burglar.

A man who broke into a house and took a bath was disturbed when the homeowner returned to find him enjoying a "cup of Oxo" while having a soak.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to a house on Mossfield Road, in the Longton area of Stoke-on-Trent, on Wednesday night.

When they arrived, a naked man fled the property and tried to escape.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man, of no fixed address, on suspicion of burglary and he was taken into custody.

Image captionMr Holder resigned before the hearing for gross misconduct
A police officer has been sacked without notice after selling himself for sex while on sick leave.

Det Con Richard Holder of Sussex Police resigned before his dismissal at a disciplinary hearing on Monday.

Ch Con Giles York told the hearing at force headquarters in Lewes that Holder advertised on the AdultWork.com website.

The Police Federation said Holder admitted all of the allegations and had apologised for his lack of judgement.

He is the second Sussex Police officer to have been caught advertising his services as a prostitute in less than two years.

In December 2016, Hastings-based police constable Daniel Moss was dismissedafter advertising himself as a male prostitute.

Last year it also emerged Insp Tony Lumb of Sussex Police could face criminal charges over claims he had sex with women he met while on duty.

The force's Police Federation chairman Matt Webb, representing Holder, said he had "fallen on his sword".

Oooh er. That must have made his eyes water.

What the Hell? Elderly comics legend Stan Lee seems to be surrounded by some very shady people cashing in on his fortune, including one who has drawn "containers" of blood from his body for sale to collectors:

Now he's suing the vampire. Or somebody representing him is. Kevin Smith recently invited Stan to move in with him to get away from these ghouls - Stan, take Kev's advice! Excelsior!

Hmmm . . . how can he "guarantee" that kids were assaulted during the teachers' strike? I hope he can account for his whereabouts during the time in question.

Of course, this is all pure piffle to distract us from the REAL outrage: all the murders, rapes, bank robberies, arsons, car-jackings and other assorted horrors committed by the little darlings who SHOULD have been in school!!

Crooks took gnome prisoners when they made off with two unique “nude” ornaments from a Dundee garden.

Yvonne and Dougy Barron have a host of different ornaments in their garden, but have now been stripped of a couple of their favourites after thieves struck.

Yvonne and Dougy Barron’s nude gnomes were stolen from their garden
The figures, which look like they are enjoying a spot of sunbathing, were naked apart from their iconic hats and boots — although Mrs Gnome also kept her pants on.

The couple bought the handmade characters while browsing a car boot sale in Errol.

Yvonne said she was taken by the ornaments, which were £10 each, because they “appealed to her sense of humour” — and she gave them pride of place in their Dykehead Place garden in Stobswell.

Who doesn't feel like hanging up at times?

A former 911 operator in Houston, Texas has been found guilty of hanging up on emergency calls.

Crenshanda Williams, 44, was sentenced to 10 days in jail and 18 months of probation for interfering with emergency telephone calls.

The Harris County district attorney's office said Ms Williams systematically hung up on emergency reports.

Calls she terminated included reports of robberies, speeding vehicles, and murders, records showed.

Prosecutors said Ms Williams had worked as a 911 operator for 18 months, ending in 2016.

The district attorney's office said the recording system kept a report of whether it was the caller or the operator who disconnected the call.

It showed that thousands of calls shorter than 20 seconds were attributed to her hanging up, the court heard.

Ms Williams hung up because at those times she did not want to talk to anyone, she told investigators.

I'm shell shocked.

A foul stench coming from a two-storey home in Madagascar has led to the discovery of 10,000 endangered radiated tortoises. According to a report by the head of Madagascar’s environment agency, the tortoises covered the floors of every room in the house, and the smell of urine and faeces was “overpowering”.

The Delhi Crime Branch has arrested a father and son on the pretext of selling a product to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

The con artists used space suits and dressed like scientists for the act to be foolproof.

According to the Crime Branch, Virendra Mohan Brar (56) and his son Nitin Mohan Brar (30) lured a victim saying their company could arrange the sale of 'RP' to space agencies at cost of around Rs 37,500 crore after testing its genuineness, which would be done by scientists and some chemicals would be imported for the same.

The complainant was lured that if he invests money for the said testing, he can also earn a handsome amount.

Narendra, a resident of Delhi and a garment businessman approached the crime branch that he has been cheated by Virender Mohan Brar, Nitin Brar and others to the tune of Rs 1.43 crore on pretext of investing money for buying and testing Rice Puller.

Rice Puller (RP) is basically a non-existent object, but cheats take a copper plate or utensil and coat it with liquid magnet and then put in some boiled rice with small iron wires and befool the victim by pulling the iron-clad rice grain towards the magnet coated copper article.

The cheats further befool the victim stating that the object is a rare piece of copper, which is struck by thunderbolt in the hills of Uttarakhand giving it power to pull rice and the same is being used by NASA and DRDO in advanced space research.

They tell the victims that the object will be purchased by NASA and DRDO for thousands of crores of rupees, but they will test it before buying and the testing expenses are to be borne by the seller. They lure the victims to finance the testing bit of it in the lieu of a share in the selling price which is thousands of crores.

etc...

Truly bizarre.

A father in Spain is accused of raping his 15-year-old daughter and two of her friends after claiming he had to rid them of evil spirits.

The man, named as Javier G D, is to go on trial on Thursday, and prosecutors are arguing for a 45-year jail term. It is alleged that the repeated rapes took place at his home in Baix Llobregat, near Barcelona. Prosecutors say his wife colluded with the abuse and should get nine years' jail as an accomplice. The wife was allegedly in the house during the rapes and even asked the girls "how it had been".

The man claimed to be in the "Order of Odin" which required him to rape the girls, otherwise their relatives would be cursed with misfortune, the indictment says. ..

The man claimed to be in the "Order of Odin" which required him to rape the girls..

In these politically-correct times the jury might let him off on the grounds that he had every right to freely practise his "religion"..;)

A top University of Oxford student who stabbed her boyfriend could be spared jail because she's so clever and it would damage her career.

Aspiring heart surgeon Lavinia Woodward, 24, met the man on Tinder but then punched and swiped at him with a bread knife during a drink-and-drug fuelled row.

She then stabbed the Cambridge-educated boyfriend in the leg before hurling a laptop, glass and a jam jar at him at iconic Christ Church college, Oxford.
So this extraordinarily lenient sentence was apparently not lenient enough and so she has been appealing against it. And thankfully losing. :wtf:

An Oxford University student who was spared jail for stabbing her boyfriend has lost her latest bid to appeal against her sentence.

The Court of Appeal ruled Lavinia Woodward, 25, could not challenge her 10-month prison term which was suspended for 18 months.

She had applied to have her case heard by a full court of three judges.
